Got it, thanks. Have you tried running the Windows System File Checker to see if that helps at all? If there are any issues with the system files that should be able to identify and correct them. For more information on how to run it check out the Microsoft Support website.
Please let me know if you're still running into any trouble with the controller after that. Thanks!

Not OP but I will comment in this thread since it's up.
I downloaded the game for the first time today (on PC), and noticed my Xbox wireless controller is not getting noticed as a controller either.
I went to the controller options in the main menu, and in the Use gamepad or keyboard/mouse option, it says "This option can only be changed if an XInput-compatible controller is connected when the game is started." I restarted a few times, with the controller connected, but the game does not make use of the controller or let me update this. The controller is working fine for other games.
I can attach an image of any additional information if that would help you with an answer.
Thank you.

Thanks for the additional info!
Are you running DA:I through Origin, or are you launching it through Steam?

Here to say I am running into the same issue. I've googled around and this does not appear to be the same issue as having multiple inputs connected, going into the menu and switching the controller type, or running the game through Origin (with overlay on/off), Steam, etc
I have an xbox one wireless controller, hooked up via bluetooth. This game will not recognize it, let you change the input mode (even manually via editing the profile file), or notice the controller however many times you restart with it connected (keyboard on and off, etc - everything). This is the only game I have with this issue.
Any help would be appreciated!
