Emprise du Lion crashing

Have you tried repairing the game? Seems like an odd (and evil) bug... When you say 'the centre of town', do you mean the town near the camp where you begin in Emprise du Lion, or somewhere else? Probably not relevant, just wondering.

Assuming you're on PC (it's a bad habit, I tend to assume everyone is unless they state otherwise), you right click the game in Origin and select 'repair game'. Might take a few minutes, depending on how many DLC and Multiplayer things you have installed. It's not guaranteed to fix it, but it's the easiest thing to try. Odd for a bug to only affect one area of the game, so it doesn't sound like an issue with your hardware, though of course I could be wrong. 😛
I'm guessing you didn't make it as far as setting up any other camps in Emprise du Lion that you could try travelling to instead of the first camp?
i was having same problem heres what i did go to graphics turn slider to automatic ive had it on ultra whole time no problem until du lion then go to account torun off all the options there so no data is being sent out to ea. dont know which worked for me but i did both and now i can move again.

For me, setting graphics to Automatic did the trick. I did not mess with the Account menu. Thank you.
- But it isn't solved. I'm having the crash problem on PC. Really pissing me Off! Reloaded COMPUTER three times. Need a fix, okay. Stop posting 'if solved mark as solved when far from solved. Okay??
