Few fixes for few problems in Dragon Age Inquisition

Hello everyone. My name is Gidedin and I am here to give you a few tips and tricks to fix a few of the current gaming bugs that may be happening to you. Beware that this is only available to the PC version of the game. So, let's start, shall we?

First of all, I want to give a warning here that is the cause of most errors and people forget: Modding isn't very well received right now by the game. So, if you are having any problem, it may be related to any mod you have installed.

White Screen

This error have start to pop everywhere on the last few days, and I managed to fix it for many players already ( and many more that haven't replied to me ). Here is the few solutions I came with and the number of people it helped. Do this in order if you want to fix your issue and test every step.

- Delete your settings profiles and let the game load you PC default settings. You can do that by going to the current folder: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save and deleting the files ProfileOptions_profile and ProfileOptions. I told one player to do this and it solved for him. Good for him, that was easy!

- Go to your Game Settings, Graphics and change the Post-Processing Effects to Off. Restart the game. This helped me in one scenario and two other players.

- Re-install your graphics card driver. For NVIDIA go here and for AMD go here. Choose the right option for your operational system and remember to do a clean install. This helped many players.

If the problem haven't been fixed until here, it may have two distinct problems, so let's walk through them.

- If you are overclocking your graphics card, turn it off and restart your computer ( this part is very important, I don't know why ). This helped one player.

- The second one is mostly to people who uses mods. More than half of the people who replied to me saying my fix worked was using mods. Funny. I told them to do the following:

# Download Dragon Age Inquisition Mod Manager from The Nexus if you haven't already. Please, read all the 'How to...' from the website. It is very important that you do so. After you have downloaded it, do a clean merge ( only select the Official Patch ) and click Merge.

TL;DR on how to use it:

- Make sure Dragon Age Inquisition isn't running;

- On Mod Path, select where you have the mods installed. For most people, just select the same directory where the Mod Manager is, as you don't have any Mod installed;

- On Dragon Age Path select where you installed the Dragon Age Inquisition. The path must be where the game's exe file is located;

- Make sure only Official Patch is selected ( The must be an [X] only on Official Patch );

- Select the 'Force rescan of Patch';

- Click the Merge button on the bottom;

- Select the following folder ( If non existent, create it ): Dragon Age Installation Path/Updates/Merged;

- Wait for it to finish;

- Start the game and try to play it.

Everyone who didn't managed to fix until here, now did. If you are still experience problems, please, let me know!

Characters Standing Still

Many players reported that their characters were standing still, unable to move, but they could move their camera freely. Few seconds later everything started to work again.

That is a incompatibility mod problem. The only people I've seen with this was because they have some mod installed. Be sure to remove it or find the right mod order to fix it.

Crash to Desktop

This problems seems to happen with many people. Far more than I like to. There is no perfect fix for this, but this is what you can do to remedy it:

- Be sure that your graphics driver is up to date and if not sure, do a clean install anyway. For NVIDIA go here and for AMD go here.

- If you are overclocking your graphics card, be sure to have it with stable settings. Many crashes to desktop happens due to this. The only way to find if it is stable is to look for strange artifacts when overclocked or if you crash too often when overclocking it comparing to a non overclocked state.

- Corrupted files. This is a mess. Be sure to scan your game for repair. It'll see if everything matches and will download the file again if it was corrupted.

---

I think this is everything I can do to help you now. If you have found any other way to fix a problem, be sure to let me know! Everything I posted here was because it was a fix for someone! So, it may be a fix for you too!

Have fun guys!

    I have the latest AMD drivers, verified. Had the Origin launcher check and verify all of the game files, several times. I do not overclock my graphics card nor my CPU. I have been successfully able to play the game several times through to the end, with varying amounts of crashes, none of them game breaking such as what's happened today.

    I do not use mods and I don't have any installed for this game. I haven't even downloaded anything for over a week. I just finished a complete playthrough two days ago. Today, I played for several hours without an issue. Then, in Redcliffe Farms, when I was about to begin one of Senna's horse races, I could not move on the screen once I'd mounted the horse. Keyboard and mouse were unresponsive and then it crashed to desktop. I've never ever had a single error message so there's no way to pinpoint what the problem might be.

    Tried restarting several times and it always crashes when trying to load up the last saved game. I get to the three tarot cards loading screen when it crashes, syncs to Origin's cloud and shuts down. I tried verifying the game files and repairing them, same result. The game is completely unplayable at the moment.

    PLEASE FIX THE DAMN GAME OR AT THE VERY LEAST STOP RELEASING PATCHES THAT MAKE THINGS WORSE THAN BEFORE!

    Can you try doing the Mod solution I give? It is usually fixing everything people throw at me.
