Is there a way to change world states?

I imported the wrong world state into my game and played for about 15 hours before I noticed. Is there any way to change this without starting a new game?

    It's a little tedious to make sure you get the correct save imported for sure and the option to do it can be missed easily as well, but it's also pretty simple. Make sure you have the import data you want correctly tagged in the DA Keep and when you start a new game in DAI, be sure to look for the Import World (or something along those lines; been ages since I've played) along the bottom of the screen. When the option appears be sure to press the button (I'm on Xbox so it's Y for me) and it should import. You need to be connected to the Internet as well in order for it to import, but I'm sure your aware of that. And that's it. I get that playing for 15 hours only to find out that all your * didn't transfer over, but not much you can do at this point really. And the practicality of being able to switch your world state mid game is really silly as it can easily make events contradict each other as some options are unavailable when certain ones are selected. As players, it's on us to make sure stuff like this is done properly if we want it to be done our way, Bioware just gives us the means to do it. Sure it flops sometimes cause DAI is glitchy as all heck, but not much the developers will do at this point. Just make sure the world state you want is correctly tagged in the keep and make sure to see and use the import option as you begin creating your new save in game and you'll be fine.

    Same here. I'm 20 hours in and only noticed when Hawke was introduced ☹️

    No, you cannot change world states mid game. You would have to start a new game to get a different world state. This is why the tutorials for creating a world state all say to write down your date and time stamp when setting the active world state, then comparing the date/time stamp shown when importing the world state in DAI.

    Welll, that doesnt help all the time.
    I exported my world state to DAI and was told, this would be my world state when i start a new game.
    So time stamp comparing doesnt help on this one.

    That was fine until i realized, that it DID NOT use my keep Data. Im stucked with a crappy default backround story now.

    20 hours ingame now, thats really frustrating.

    And still no answer on this ( in line with other problems).

    Would like to change my world state in game or, at least, have the possibility to look into the used world state once i started a new one.

    I see your post was over a year ago, but I just started playing and ran into the same problem. I had a talk with leliana and realized I have the default world state. But I did correctly import my custom world state---but it's not registering in the game. Can it be changed in a game already started, or the answer is still "no"?

    The answer is still no. I had the exact same problem maybe 3 times over before I successfully imported my world state into DAI. And yes, you have to start all over again. I wish they gave details on the world state you were importing, like they did for da2, even if they're taking it from the Keep. Anything would help to avoid the issue.

    If you're on PC, it is possible to change your world state (it involves editing save games, and may result in breaking them if you do something incorrectly, and I'm not sure if it includes every single Keep choice, but should be able to change most things.). Unfortunately, I'm aware of nothing similar for consoles.

    The keep is a waste of time IMO. It seems like your world state, though the wrong one, actually loaded. I'm playing the game on play station and even though it claimed my world state was loaded when I first started the game, literally none of my data loaded. So I spent hours fixing my tapestry only to have alistair married to someone else and my hawke be male. (All fine choices, just not the ones I made). I'm way too many hours into game play to quit, I just don't understand why they had to make a glitchy, internet based, remote keep when I feel like they could have just incorporated it into the disc itself. I feel like it could have saved ALOT of headache.

    100% right. Making this seperately from the game itself is asking for trouble. I don't know what they were thinking. Wost case you add a 3rd cd if needed?! (likely not lol)

    Doesn't work even if both email address are the same.. sooooo frustrating. I am re downloading the first cd at this time. 4 hours of swearing and counting..

    This might be redundant, especially seeing as this an old post and hate to revive, but as someone who has had this same problem I might point out that this issue stopped for me once I clicked the "import to DAI" option along the top menu in the Keep. Have done this with multiple world states just to be sure. As for changing the world state midgame, not possible unless you alter the save states themselves like another user had already stated.

    As @JohnathanHyde noted, the game does correctly import the world state THAT YOU'VE MARKED FOR IMPORT in the DA Keep. As one can create and edit a large number of them, deciding which WS to use, and tagging it properly, is up to the player.  (I do agree that the importance of doing so could be better highlighted.)
