It's extremely difficult to move up and down in the start menu, and once I do manage to select the new game option it becomes impossible to create a character I want because I can only move the cursor...

For anyone still having this problem in 2020, you cant flick the joy stick to navigate menus you have to hold the direction for a second or it wont register.
Annoying I know but it makes the game payable again
