Solved

please update your nvidia geforce driver

OK, this might sound stupid, but stay with me.

I bought the game yesterday, I'm still trying to play for the first time due to the "unable to connect" issue, but now I have another problem.

The game asks me to update my NVidia driver. The problem is that I’m playing on an ASUS laptop. Because of a problem I had with low frames on another game, their technical support strongly advise me to use ONLY the NVidia drivers from the official ASUS site. So I did. Currently I'm using 337.88 instead of 340.52 that DA:I is asking for.

So... how can I solve this issue? Any way to make the game stop checking and forcing me update my NVidia drivers?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

  • currently the most stable nvidia driver for DA:I is 344.65

when you do the install, yes, do a custom, clean, install.

but ONLY install the graphics driver and physx.

do not install the audio, or 3d software drivers.

  • I know they recommend to try using manufactured supplied drivers, but this to me is and always will be bad news.  They aren't updated nearly as often as what nvidia posts.  Asus has two drivers; the last one from this past july and one from october of last year.  They don't have any profiles of any of the recent games.

It's almost a requirement to have these latest drivers from nvidia (at least 344.75), because they have the support for DA:I.

I also have an asus laptop.  I HIGHLY recommend using the 344.75 or higher drivers, and when doing this, make sure you go to Custom installation and checkmark clean install.

Thank you for your feedback. The suggested driver was supposed to offer support also for WoW  - Warlords of Draenor. Yet after a couple of dungeons or raids, frames dropped to 9-10, in some cases even 1 (yes, 1 fps)! After the driver's rollback to the suggested by the support version, problem fixed. And that is the only reason I hesitate to upgrade again :/

Btw, my laptop is 2 months old, a g750js, with a 870m nvidia card.

    OMG!

I updated the drivers as you guys proposed and I was finally able to play the game. As it looks like the outdated nvidia drivers were causing the "unable to connect to ea server". Either that or this is a huge coincidence.

Whatever the case, I really appreciate your help guys.

Ok, I have this same pop up, on my PC.   My husband tried unsuccessfully to download the recommended driver, and ended up failing to install the new one AND debilitate our old one.  We rebooted everything and now things seem to be running well again, but we still need to download the driver to play dragon age inquisition.

I'm new to computers and modern gaming, could you explain to me how to download this driver without screwing it up?
