battlefield24194 that is most definately a damaged or faulty wire problem, based on my personal experience. Try the solutions out above in order to isolate the problem to the headphones just in case.
There is no solution if it is damaged wiring with headphones. You'll have to send back to the manafacturer or buy new headphones.
One more thing to add,
The audio issue is tied directly to performance. Lowering your graphic settings does make the issue occur less and less. That being said, even the lowest possible settings will not cure it. Just make it happen a whole lot less. Unfortunately, if it happens at all it's too much. This issue is truly gameplay ruining (at least for me).

I'm still not 100% convinced there is not something wrong with my system, as this issue occurs even worse for me in Watch_Dogs and has prevented me from playing it at all.
That being said out of the 530 steam titles (1200 if you count DLCs and Expansions) I own, 40+ Origin, and 50+ GOG titles these two are the only ones that it occurs with.

Did the same thing and even ordered the same card (xonar dg like 15$ after the rebate!) and yeah... still the same studdering in the audio. here is an example. Listen to the wind sound, you can still hear music playing even when this sound cuts out. I tried doing a video of other stuff, like fire inside a house and combat sound, but with no music, it just sounded like all audio cut out, so used this.

Exact same thing on my game! Perfect example and what I dread everytime I load up the game.

Keep posting folks, do not let this issue get ignored. Because it is not 'wide spread' we need to make sure that it remains as visable as possible to ensure it does not get overlooked.
