Re: Promise of Destruction not starting

https://dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Promise_of_Destruction

According to the Wiki link above, you have to have talked to Cass in Skyhold, along with Hawke and the Warden at Crestwood before the quest will trigger.  It doesn't say you have to complete the quest Here Lies the Abyss, and it has been a few years since I went all the way through DAI, so I can't remember how far along it is.  Personally, I would complete Here Lies the Abyss and then try again....sometimes it takes flags a bit of time to respond to the triggers....  Also, have you done the wartable quest, find the seekers??

Also you may want to repair your game files, and disable any mods if you are using them if it is still giving issues.

I thought the War Table quest, Find the Seekers comes from Promise of Destruction so that is a definite no. I will definitely look into that right now. Also, I will do Here Lies the Abyss. That's a good idea, I just didn't want to get too far ahead and mess something up lol. Speaking of flags, I am more than a little confused with the some of the flags with integers in the Save Game Editor. I just use it to look and see if things are screwed up, in other words turned on or off when they should be but in some cases such as DAI_Cassandra_Book, I am guessing that is for (trying Not to spoil) be about a personal Cassandra quest concerning Varric. In logic terms, normally, 0 means Off and 1 means On. Mine says 0 but I finished that quest early yesterday, many hours before I wrote about the Promise of Destruction not starting topic so I wonder if that flag never got tripped to on for whatever reason. DAI_Cassandra_Approval is also at 0, as is Rebuild_Seekers (which I figure is an option at the end of the Promise of Destruction completion. There is no other DAI_Cassandra listed. At the same time what really makes things confusing is that in some cases there is a TRUE or FALSE option. Why in the world, is there an Integer value needed for so many of these edits lol. That seems to indicate that there is more than two options for completion, but I can't find a list of the integer values (ie what they stand for Anywhere). Basically, DAI_Cassandra_Book 0 *Could mean that the book quest was completed if 0 meant completed and 1 meant not completed but where Anywhere does anything give a clue as to whether that's true? I'm not mad, I like a good puzzle and I'm actually smiling right now and laughing about it but it would be nice to get confirmation of what these things mean. Just in order to read the save game file correctly.

THANK YOU McSuperSport!  I could be wrong but I think you gave me a HUGE clue as to why I couldn't get the quest to trigger. You mentioned the quest, Find the Seekers. I couldn't find that quest name so I did a *find command* Seekers and found Locate the Missing Seekers. That quest has a requirement that I hadn't heard about Anywhere, an Influence Level of 7. Without having an Influence Level of 7, that quest won't trigger. My level is currently 6... technically 5840 out of 6000 needed to reach 7. When you read the very beginning of that quest description, it says that it is required to begin Promise of Destruction. Thank You again, very very much!

  • Well, I had some extra gold and used the Treaties that you can buy to get to Influence level 10, went to Cass and nothing. So, I finished Here Lies the Abyss, and nothing. I finished her dialogue wheel just in case I was missing a dialogue and nothing. She just simply won't queue the last personal quest. I don't have any mods loaded. This is the same problem that I had with Sera. I can get everything, including the so your a romantic dialogue, up to the last personal quest but those quests just won't populate.

Cassandra book, may actually reference a book Cass gets DURING her quest.  And some quests have multiple choices or endings so I can easily see more than simply 1 or 0 being required.  I haven't played in the editor for DAI, but I remember the ones for Mass Effect and they could be very confusing if you didn't know exactly what you were looking at.

If you haven't done the wartable quest to find the seekers, then her personal quest will never trigger, as it is one of the requirements of it from what I can tell.

Look into what needs to happen to get the wartable quest, and see if you can get it triggered.
