A little wary of downloading programs from groups I am not familiar with. Is this program fairly reputable?

System Requirement Lab is a bunch of foolish amateurs, wrong so often that no one with any real experience would waste time giving out a link to the place!

Then how well do you think my computer would run Inquisition with the above specs (including the GTX NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M)? I guess what I am trying to ask is what graphics setting would you think this rig would handle, and how smoothly?
Honestly, you should get decent FPS on mostly high and some ultra as long as you are happy with about 30-60fps and may get higher depending on driver updates and your Post processing and AA settings.
As far as updating goes, your system should be decent for a fair amount of time as long as you aren't always trying to run the latest games at 100+fps. But if you are thinking of "upgrading" parts of computers you need to move away from laptops and over to full towers or mid-towers desktops. Laptops are use until they are obsolete and discard for the most part, as pretty much everything is built on the main board and not parts added to it like desktops.

Best make sure the game is actually running on the Nvidia Geforce GPU instead of the Intel IGP. There should be a setting for that in the Nvidia control panel, which you can access by right clicking an empty space on your desktop.
