So this happened to me when using 3 monitors and Nvidia Surround (quite nice aother than the crash) but as soon as I switched back to single individual monitors as opposed to surround, the issue seems to have resolved itself, and I can now enter Redcliffe Village...
I know this is a really old thread but wanted to provide confirmation for 2021. Playing on an ultrawide screen monitor at 3840 x 1080 I was also crashing, only in Redcliffe. While traversing the town, I reduced the screen to 1920x1080 windowed mode, and it stops crashing. Once I was finished with the town you can switch back to the high resolution and play as normal.
