this game will not run in a virtual environment

Hi,

I'm trying to run Dragon Age 2 on PC. I've tried it via Origin and EA App, but the same thing happens: I get a message saying "this game will not run in a virtual environment. Please use your main Windows environment to play"

However I do not run a virtual environment. I had prevously succesfully played the game in my older MacBook Pro. Now I'm on a Microsoft PC Surface 2 Laptop.

    Do you start DA2 from a shortcut?

    If so try to start the game directly from your Origin library.

    @holger1405 I started DA2 directly from Origin. I even reinstalled, and later tried through the EA Desktop app, but no cigar.

    Hi, can you restart the Origin client as an administrator, and try to launch the game from its library again?

  • I’m having the same issue with dead space 3. I have a Xbox game pass along with ea play. I try to launch the game from the ea desktop but it just gives me the same message. I use my laptop surface pro windows 10

    @Jphern21

    Is that a new surface pro X?

    If so, that is an ARM based machine.

    Dead space 3 is a 32bit AMD/Intel compiled application that would need to run in the build in 32bit emulator, and I guess it don't likes that.

    I don't know if there is a workaround for that, I would suggest to look in surface or ARM centred forums.

    I have the same problem on the Surface Book 2. A simple run as an administrator did not affect anything. By running the game in the compatibility mode "the program requires additional permission", it turned out to achieve an error in EA Desktop, instead of an error in the DA 2 activation program.
    Using Origin, the game works without problems. He also downloaded the DLC, which EA Desktop could not do.

    @seradi1 Do you use by any chance Microsoft Virtualization Based Security on your Windows 10 computer?
    Because then your Windows Environment runs as a HyperV VM
