Community AdminIt might not necessarily be a bug, your approval might need to go higher. If you have the Dorian's Request war table mission, you can do this and its followup quest to gain some quick and easy approval.

I've done that mission. I've also done "One less Venatorie" with him in my team. He has been in my team since I first got him, never had a "Dorian dissaproves". I also placed Alexius as a magical researcher.
Another thing I noticed is that his dialogues options are always the same (basically "Goodbye") and that his approval doesn't go up when I kill Venatorie in the Western Approach (which should go, right?).
I assume this is all bug related, right?
