Yes the X button is supposed to CLOSE applications. If I wanted it minimized, I would minimize it. You effectively have 2 minimize buttons.
That is not helpful and ignores the complaint being made.
I support this. As a fellow developer this is poor practice to make the 'X' (close) button the same function as the '-' (minimize) button. There is no reason to have the 'X' button NOT close the application. I am SHOCKED there is not a toggle setting for 'X' button to fully close app or not. Any decent application nowadays allows you to toggle what the 'X' button does. Apparently EA is living in 2010 still.
I'm noticing a lot of people understandably do NOT like the fact that there's no option to make the "x" behave like it should, yet no real response from EA after they said they'd keep an eye on it. @EA_Jason Is EA going to fix it or not? You know most people are just going to grumble and keep it to themselves rather than looking for a solution like we all did. I grantee NONE of your users enjoy having to remember only this application minimizes when you try to close it.
@RealGodzKiller Thanks for that, was just about to start googling for this type of code, lol. Cause apparently we have to fix their launcher ourselves.Everyone feels the same. I don't want your stupid app playing in the background taking up CPU usage. If I press the damn x button, I want it to close the app like it's supposed to. If I wanted to minimize it, there's a minimized button that's what it's there for! Why have a button to minimize it into my taskbar or an x button that minimizes it to my tray? That's dumb AF, fix it!
I agree with everyone about X out of program not closing EA app.
Here is the problem i ran into. I have 2 computers home desktop and a laptop. I played game on desktop computer and exited the game to check email. But I forgot close EA app before shuting down the desktop. Then I couldn't play a game on the laptop, because the EA app would abort saying I was still logged in on another computer. But the desktop was shut down. To fix this problem, I had to return home and startup the desktop to close the EA app before I could play a game on the laptop.
THis is a whole lot of stupid BS, because of the EA app no closing as should have. When is EA going to get there act together.
Are you trying to spy on users? How come there is no option to close the app using X button, as for approaching middle of 2023 this is unacceptable.
to put it on par with the level of annoyance these type of things are creating:
still does not work!
to clarify, the complete list of programs allowed to stay on (and run services) after clicking x:
- antivirus(cm edit - removed caps)
Seems to be obviously intentional by EA. This also seems to be the reason noone replies anymore and it isnt fixed over such a long period of time.
How has there been no update to this every other game launcher has this functionality.
EA needs to respond to this thread.
