@EA_Leeuw @EA_Barry Guys, can you get the attention of some manager or dev team lead in EA who's responsible for launching this mess of an app? I have a few words for them:
If they want us to replace Origin with their newfangled EA Desktop App:
1. It must allow us to disable cloud sync per game and globally like Origin
2. It must run without a background service like Origin
3. It must allow us to set default tab to our game library like Origin
4. It must allow us to invite friends and join their games from the friend list and chat like Origin
5. It must allow us to play games offline like Origin
Please also tell them that I've asked whether they all have hay in their heads when they thought launching the new app without those 5 basic features, let alone forcing it on users, was a good idea, because that's seriously stretching even the very definition of a Minimum Viable Product.
While you are at it, please also tell them to keep away from open flame -- I worry about their safety.
When will everyone realize EA doesn't care about us? They don't care about the people that buy their products. They don't care about fans of franchises. They just don't care. They have been the lowest tier for quality in launchers since launchers became a thing. They STILL can't even figure out what "Keep me logged in" means, so how are they competent enough to fix these apps? No one there has ever taken any type of business class, because if they did, they would have realized, in Business 101 or even Business for dummies, that keeping existing customers can make you twice as much profit as having to appeal to new ones. I know they don't know that otherwise, we would still have Origin as an option, or the option to install games without a launcher if we choose, but no, they have to collect as much information as they can about us, so they can sell that information, to make up the profit losses from all of us that have not found EA worthy of our money in years. They are too stupid to realize that we would buy games from them if it didn't cost $60 for a game, then hundreds more to get all of the content for that game, only to find out after we spent all of that money, that they broke everything about the franchises we love and made it more about taking more money from us, than it was about the game or the story. Once they discovered microtransactions and expansion packs, they destroyed the fun of playing their new games. So with that said, I am not surprised by the fact that they force us to use a broken app. They don't want us to play the games we bought, because that takes bandwidth from them, so if they can cut us off from our games for a day or two, they can save thousands on internet costs. Either that or their devs are too incompetent to figure out how to make working apps, and I am genuinely not sure if it is stupidity or on purpose, because neither would be out of character for EA.
