Been on Steam for 19 years, and I have never had any problems with it, despite all the numerous changes they've made to the client - Well except one time when the friends list and chats having an Apple interface, but other than that.. no issues whatsoever.
Steam has been rock solid, and it has always launched all my games without any fuss.
Origin was always alright. It launched games and like Steam, it had the option to use the friends list for joining/inviting people - by right-clicking! (hint, hint EA)
Although Origin had the tendency to become slow and unresponsive, you could always just restart it to fix that.
But man oh man.. EA App has been nothing but problems. It feels the same now as it did in its beta stage, like nothing has been fixed since then. All the negative feedback from the community has been brushed over, with the developers turning a blind eye towards their customers.
The worst part is that EA App has been FORCED on the userbase. No option to continue using Origin until the App is on par or better than its predecessor. 20 minutes and a reboot later and still can't play Battlefield V single player due to EA launcher nonsense. I now actively avoid Ubi and EA games as the pain and suffering is not worth the effort. I otherwise have no hate toward the company.
Yeah, I just googled "I hate EA launcher" and this forum came out, lol.
Definitely agreed with people here. I hate this stupid, garbage launcher and I hate the idea that every game maker company wants to have their own stupid launchers, so in result, I have Steam, I have this crap EA, I have crap Ubisoft and if I loved Rockstar games (thank god, I don't) I would have running their launcher too and don't forget about Blizzard launcher and all these moronic launchers just take our computer resources and all this because these companies want to have their own goddamn launchers! Really tired from this crap. Wish there was some kind of law prohibitting these companies doing this crap...
Yea 2 Years later and the app is still just as * maybe even *, currently says it's going to take 179330 hours for this 6 gig update on apex legends. Havnt played dead by daylight for a while so I said let's update that and see... sure * updates perfectly fine finishing in about 3 minutes. But for some reason the trash * EA launcher downloads at a speed of about 2kbs
I have to redownload everything after moving a hard drive because the app can't cope with recognizing that something is already downloaded. Something went wrong. Yeah, the EA App went wrong. Why did you ever get rid of Origin. It was not very good but it beat this pile by miles.
Current problems with the EA launcher as of May 2024 :
Crysis 3 (original version) randomly (as in, most of the time) won't launch. I was not able to find a solution. In order to play and complete the game I had to find a version that bypassed the EA launcher.
Dead Space (original 2008 version) won't launch if the EA app is already open on the taskbar. I have to make sure it's closed (and make sure the EA background process is also closed) before starting the game. Even then, sometimes I have to start the game TWICE to get it to work.
Sometimes the EA app will give an error when starting that says something about being offline, despite the fact that I have excellent and consistent internet.
I haven't even tested the other EA games I currently have installed. I bet there are more issues with the EA app that I don't even know about.
its still worthless only now it logs you out and makes you type your info in everytime you want to launch a game. Also games just disappear from your library.
The EA App is the biggest piece of * ive ever been forced to use.Gotta agree with you all, it's so much worse than pretty much anything. You can't change a game's language post install, you have to type in your pw pretty much every time, and for me, I can't close it except via task manager... like wtf. I want to close a game from desktop, so please fix that

I was going to buy Titanfall 2 and Tales of Kenzera but all these app issues have put me off. I think I'll skip Dragon Age as well, this app sounds like a nightmare! Apparently it caches all your game files when a patch downloads so every time it gets an update it doubles in size?!? Is this true?!
- anneemchughes2 years agoRising Scout@Eyeshield_2B In the middle of creating huge builds that take days, the app decides to shut the game down for some kind of minor update without warning or opportunity to save. While most of the time I remember to save every other keystroke, once in awhile I get so rapped up in building I forget and bam, lose it all. I agree. The launcher is horrible. I never had these issues with Origin.
