Pop-up in Origin about EA app which can't be closed

Hi everyone. I have been playing Sims 3 through Origin for many years now, but today am having issues. When I open Origin I get a message pop up which says "The EA app is your new home for PC gaming....

Same, I can't close the popup, tried reinstalling Origin. I tried the EA app last August and it didn't recognise half my Sims 4 packs (DLC) so I managed to switch back to Origin, which took ages. I don't want to risk downloading the EA app again. Has anyone found a workaround??

@Professor94 same! I don't want to change to EA app until they can guarantee with some sort of return that it works. I put in a ticket

  yea i had installed an old link to origin because bf5 wouldnt work at all with the EA App. once i installed origin it worked right away, and now that this pop up is here i cant even play bf5 anymore I SPENT $50 on this game recently and now I cant even * play it

    same here stupid ea app , forced to try it but games wont launch at all , ea sort this * out , got bf5 now cannot play it
