Pop-up in Origin about EA app which can't be closed

Hi everyone. I have been playing Sims 3 through Origin for many years now, but today am having issues. When I open Origin I get a message pop up which says "The EA app is your new home for PC gaming....

Hey @punkerlishus going forward you will need to use the EA app to play your EA games.


Please follow the steps to install the EA app to continue playing.

Ok but we dont want the EA app because its trash and doesnt work. I shouldnt have to switch to a platform that DOES.NOT.WORK. in order to use what I paid for.
