Pop-up in Origin about EA app which can't be closed

Hi everyone. I have been playing Sims 3 through Origin for many years now, but today am having issues. When I open Origin I get a message pop up which says "The EA app is your new home for PC gaming....

Hey @punkerlishus going forward you will need to use the EA app to play your EA games.

Please follow the steps to install the EA app to continue playing.

I did install the EA app, but my games no longer work. When it works let us know?

When I first installed it ( forced to) it said “ membership expired, once u renew you can play your games and saves”

  Thanks for forcing me to install the EA App and losing access to The Sims 3 🙂
  This is so outrageous.
