Pop-up in Origin about EA app which can't be closed

Hi everyone. I have been playing Sims 3 through Origin for many years now, but today am having issues. When I open Origin I get a message pop up which says "The EA app is your new home for PC gaming....

Hey @punkerlishus going forward you will need to use the EA app to play your EA games.

Please follow the steps to install the EA app to continue playing.

It is not right to be forced to use a app that wont even download for some of us and doesnt work for those who do download it. I have purchased 60 dollars in games three weeks ago and still can't play them not to mention i went out and bought this computer just to play a couple games I want to play.
