Re: how to limit/throttle download speed in EA Desktop app ?

I see that EA Desktop has some controls to set a download speed limit, but they are locked to Unlimited with the mouse cursor just turning into a "nope" cursor when hovering on them. It would be great to be able to set the limits so that I can safely do these huge downloads in the background while for example watching streaming videos and not have the EA download take up all the bandwidth.

On the plus side, at least currently it is able to use my 100 Mbps connection fully to download the games. I just wouldn't always want it to 🙂

Thanks for the feedback, totally agreed.

  • Just checked the Trello board and this isn't even listed as an Item on there?

To be taken seriously as a platform, this is the most basic of functionality that should be expected!

    Hey @ruyshen,

Thanks for your feedback regarding the EA Desktop app.

It is indeed the case that there is currently no download throttle button present in EA Desktop. The program is still in development and it is, therefore, possible that not all features are present yet. However, we appreciate your feedback regarding this and I will make sure to pass it on to the teams.

Failing to consider such a basic feature (common to most launchers including Origin) from the beginning is bad enough, but not having it after customers have been requesting it for a year is beyond ridiculous. Not sure how to account for that level of mismanagement.

Please do have your team consider adding this feature (I thought EAD had it at one point or is my memory THAT bad?).  I was gonna download two games through it, but I'll probably just download one (unless I get complaints) through EAD and the other through Origin.  It's not sucking up all of my bandwidth, but it's making things load slower.  Thanks for reading and I hope it's implemented at some point.  🙂
