- @EA_Mako Wait, wait, wait. There are only pre-selected speeds??? 1MB/s and then 5MB/s????????????
Really!?
Even the Epic Store allows you to set a D/L speed in kb/s.
Seriously, it's 2022 and all the other stores enabled this YEARS ago.
If you want the community to take this platform seriously, implement at least the basic features.
If you've got presets, the code is 99.9% done.
One more 'preset' : CUSTOM.

OMG... its took them this long to impliment download speed limiting and then on presets????
Cmon EA... make it where you custom set the download speed limit like all the other platforms.
There really is no excuse
@panikas17Agreed, i have a 50Mbps connection, or i set 5MBps what eat almost all my connection, or i set 1MBps what downloads takes forever... And the limiter not works fine, it keep variating between 4 and 6, making impossible for watch a stream or anything while downloading a game... Really so silly...
Similar situation here. I have 90mbs connection so want to be able to put it to 70mbs dl and yet I only have an option to do 5MBps a sec or 10MBps COME ON EA. This isn't that hard every other major platform has this.
Hey I figured out a work around for making a custom limiter
in file explorer go to %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop
right click on the file that starts with "user_" and it will have a long number after
there is an option "user.throttle.bandwidthkbps=" just set it to whatever you want, just make sure you convert your Mbps to Kbps
save and restart ea launcher and your custom bandwidth limit is set!
Would it be possible to offere a wider variety of download limiting rates? In my case I am only allowed 1MB or 5MB when I would like to allow 2MB as the best balance for my broadband
EA App is using all my bandwidth. If I set the download speed to unlimited, I only get 1.5Mb~ download speed for content, but my bandwidth is pegged around 15Mb, which is my entire connection. What is the EA App doing with all the extra bandwidth? I have no idea, I know it's not making the content download any faster. Setting to 5Mbps consumes 15Mb/s as well, with a max content download of 1.5Mb/s. Setting to 1Mb/s download nets about 800kb/s and uses about 3-5Mb/s.
There is something seriously wrong with how the downloads work. Windows 11 Pro btw.- I found on another rant a user who recommended putting this:
[connection]
EnvironmentName=production
[Feature]
CdnOverride=akamai
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\legacyPM
In the EACore.ini file and it eliminated the rate limiting for me. - @EA_Mako it's basically useless with presets. after all this time
- @vavxky2tzjay Thank you for this. I was having to download at an abysmal 1MB/s (about a quarter of my connection), I set it to 2250kbps (which is about 2MB/s and my go-to for any download rate). It seems to have worked so far. I did have to quit the app first, then set the rate at that file and then start it again though 🙂
