Shorten the required min install directory length.

Question

EA evidently doesn't know how to program a correct directory structure in the installer. Even the default install directory is "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EALauncher.exe". PLEASE PLEASE for the love of all that's (insert word or phrase of your highest regard) REMOVE one of the "EA Desktop" folders in your install directory path.

I want D:\EA Desktop. and the app files would be in that directory. The minimum one can get is for example on the drive letter D:\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\ app files. In this example the minimum should be D:\EA Desktop\ app files. You can have the installer capture any custom directory name and have your shortcuts use that.

STOP using your interns to setup your installer. If you paid anything for it you paid too much. Unless they did follow your instructions then your instructions are bad.

Hey&nbsp;@Cboath&nbsp;creating a folder within a folder to install isn't all that unusual and doesn't cause issues.

@EA_Darko @EA_Darko This is surely an issue if the path length exceeds 260 chars that Microsoft have soft-setted for Windows.

And don't tell us that its common practice to have such a folder structure described in the original post because it is not at all a common practice to have such elaborate and long folder structures for the main application.

But with that said, the folder structure could be so much better, some of the developers surely uses other distribution platforms why not look at those 🙂
