The EA app makes the case for offline game play for me
As i'm sure many of you will by now have realized, this "always online" stuff is a problem now.
Everything is being locked up in having a constant online connection, and it's cutting into our lives by affecting our hobbies, and hobbies are about all we have left thesedays.
It's the same with the streaming services. You bought yourselves a nice bigg 4K TV and purchased a membership to one (or more) of the big streaming services, and you notice artifcating on the movies and TV shows you're streaming, despite having more than enough bandwidth. It's at that point you realized you should have held onto your bluray and UHD bluray collection.
So the story is also the same with always needing an online connection to play single player games, or single player part of a game that has an online mode.
This whole nonsense with being forced to have an online connection is driving me to look elsewhere for games now, and it's with the FORCED introduction of the EA app that has cemented this need to look elsewhere for my games.
There is a competitor out there that provides a total fix for this, but obviously i can't say the name here or the mods will be forced to lock the thread. I think we all know the name anyway by now.
I've had enough of it personally. It's a disgrace. Even disc based PC you can buy from the store, require you to download and install an app, which in turn, forces you to be connected online at all times.
I'm sick of internet connected devices as well. Even the washing machine i bought, and NEEDED to buy for the extra large drum size, has this feature, and despite me not using it once, it still annoys me that i have probably paid a fair bit more for that washing machine because they tacked on wifi etc.
Same story with TV sets now as well. Tried to buy a 4K TV that DOESN'T have apps tacked on? If they exist, i haven't been able to find any.
I'm not interested in bloatware catch-up TV or streaming services at all, and never have been, despite trying some of them out, i'm not interested in them at all. So why are all the TV sets forcing this intrusive bloatware onto us all?
I'm surely not the only person who just wants to be left alone to do their own thing, which in my case, is just plug the HDMI cable from the graphics card into my TV and sit back on my big cosy recliner chair and play some games to wind down after work.
I don't care about the "Internet of things" (IoT) i just want to be left alone.
I don't care about 5G or 6G. I use ethernet, always, for gaming. Stop tacking it onto high-end motherboards i want to buy. I don't even have wifi switched on at my router, as it's pure poison, literally. I just want to be left alone.
I don't care about bloatware apps on my TV. Please make a TV that is free from all this nonsense. I just want to be left alone.
I don't care about wifi and "time saving" apps on my washing machine, fridge freezer, or toaster. I just want an ordinary, non-wifi, no apps, white-goods home appliance because i just want to be left alone.
How difficult is to just leave people alone when they just want to be left alone?
You poke and prod and hurry people, and eventually, there is going to b a snap back.
