EA App Linux

Hi everyone,

Back to gaming after fairly busy time (two or three years). I've still been following the advances in gaming at least a little bit; technology is progressing rapidly in all sectors.

Today, we can even launch a rocket into space and have it land in the same spot several hours later... And you can even find the SpaceX code on GitHub in collaborative mode...

So I'm returning to gaming without any fear, as I didn't even ask myself if it would be a little bite complicated to install a poor application launcher (we're talking about the launcher and... not even the game itself).

Naive as I am, once again, EA Games is plunging us into the Stone Age, where we still have to perform 10,000 perilous manipulations before even succeeding to install on linux a poor application launcher... in 2025? Hey, is there someone at the helm of the sinking ship?

Crash in progress ;-)

  • Hi 8642153245,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts—and for the humour! We understand your frustration. While technology has advanced in many ways, the EA app isn’t officially supported on Linux at this time. This can make installation challenging, and unfortunately, we’re unable to provide troubleshooting for unsupported platforms.

That said, we do value feedback like yours. I’ll be sure to pass your comments along to the team. We appreciate your passion and hope for a smoother experience in the future.

  • The installation itself isn't challenging, it's the updates that bork the launcher which makes it unable to launch the installed games again even when running through Proton, Bottles or Wine.

I recently bought a new game on the EA App launcher because it seemed it has been stable for a while and I wanted to support the improvements but after a few weeks of playing it the launcher did its thing again.

Think it's time to consider no more EA games until there is at least a little team that supports the Linux side of things.

Thanks for your answer dude, I challenge you to assign at least one dev to the case... and to open the source code of your app on github.

This way the community will be able to correct future errors in the code, and even improve it, why not ;-)

  • As the topic says, more and more people are moving on to Linux. EA's downfall. I used to use Windows until I ran Wireshark and saw what I saw. It might as well be like opening your wallet and giving your PIN to everyone that walks by. If anyone thinks differently, just run Wireshark, then use SecIP to block those IP addresses. Then see what happens when Microsoft's data center changes to a LAN network. You have no control over what comes in or out. Block those ports and protocols  then see what happens. Microsoft's data center uses every port and protocols to connect. EA needs better resilience with all platforms. I don't really care anymore, I've learn something better then windows and EA

I'm thrilled to say that with the new GeForce Infinity, I can now enjoy a wide range of EA games on Linux! And it's all thanks to Nvidia for their great work in making this possible.I also want to give a huge thank you to Nvidia for thinking of us Linux gamers and building a gaming community that's more competitive than ever before. With GeForce Infinity, we're no longer limited by the limitations of Windows or other operating systems. We can now fully immerse ourselves in the world of gaming without any restrictions. So here's to Nvidia: keep up the fantastic work! You've given us Linux gamers a whole new level of freedom and excitement. Cheers!"
