Are you all able to launch the game if you manually create a desktop shortcut for the game you're not able to play? Once creating the shortcut, try right-clicking on that and run it as administrator. 

Locate the game's .EXE file under the folder you have it located on your PC and right-click>Create Shortcut.

I just tested the shortcut thing, same behavior. It lauches EA Desktop and ask for admin privileges.

I just tested it myself with a few games, after you get the message that you need admin privileges and press OK, then another pop-up appears asking if you allow the app to make changes to the PC.

After pressing Yes, I was able to launch the games without any issues.

I know, but it is not a normal behavior. 

I don't really get why the game need a command prompt to start.

Well these are older games and what's normal now, might have been different in the past.

Yes it always worked this way. 

It's just when I want to play a game, I expect it to be more user friendly.

Command & Conquer Remastered is not that old and have this problem.

And Microsoft fixed the same issue with GamePass PC. Old game like Age of Empire asked for admin before, they don't need them anymore.

So it can be fixed.

I just hope EA fix this minor issue too.

Same problem here. It was working before and in noticed this issue now.

I am very disappointed as I had a problem when they launched Xbox integration with EA Play, I got zero support for the issue and "fixed" it reinstalled whole Operating System.

Very poor support, better saying, none.

Hello there! I too am having the same exact issue with Mass Effect. I've done all the things in this thread and others that I have found but with no luck. I have it with Game Pass on PC and I was able to play it for about 30 minutes before I closed the game because I got stuck in a conner. But since then I have not been able to play. Always tells me I need admin permission to play. Was even doing that before it worked for 30 minuets. Please Help!!!

Yeah I'm in the same boat here, trying to play Mass Effect but it requires admin to launch but then it doesn't come up with the usual prompt of windows asking me if I'd like to give it permission.

Several reports people can play using VPN for the USA.

I am in UAE here and can't play or use VPN. No support.

It was working and now it is broken.

I stopped trying until a fix is coming.

Looks like it's getting worse... I'll check with my PC what is going on now.

I just tested it, none of my games are working now.

The admin issue is still present. Normally I can pass it (again it's not because a workaround exist that the problem should not be fixed), but this time the game won't launch.

For a Beta app I don't see it updated often...

I'm also having this exact same issue with Mass Effect. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I appears to be the EA Desktop App that is crashing. I think it needs an update. Also Crysis wouldn't launch for me either. I just got a black screen. I have a funny feeling it only affects older titles.

This bug has been around for at least 6 months now, we are paying for a service that is NOT being fulfilled. This is totally unacceptable. FIX IT NOW EA.

Hello all!

I figured out this problem!

In Control Panel (you can put Control Panel icon to Windows 10 desktop -> themes -> desktop icon settings) there "change account type" click on it! After that select your user,

after that click "Change account type" and THERE change to Administrator! Click Change Account Type button!

The default Windows is Standard, NOT Administrator! This is why it always ask Admin premissions!

I think I'm administrator already, but will double check your solution!

you can add permission the game exe file and the ea desktop to all user as well = double clikk the game icon or/and ea desktop icon, properties, compatibity, change setting for all users, run this program as administrator.

With this method the game will launch (but the warning window still pop up!), and i dont think this is ea fault this time.

Yes, im too, but Standard is Windows default! I dont know why.

I just checked and by default I was Admin, not standard.

Well, i dont know then. It's working for me now, and im sure it was default standard before, when it not worked. I have xbox gamepass, and ea desktop.

Before I got a popup message, I can click OK and the game start. But it's still a bug because a game shouldn't ask for permission.

Lately pressing OK won't even start the game.

EA Desktop is a mess as it is.
