Re: How do I play the Sims 4 offline with the EA app?
At one point maybe 20 years ago I had nothing but EA games. At one point I had Sims 2, Sims 3, Sims 4, BF 1942, BF Vietnam, and BF 2 and played all of them 7 days a week. Then came BF 3, that I hated, because it took all the fun out of it. So I just kept playing BF2. Eventually EA put their foot down, said no more of that, go buy and play BF4. Hated that one too.
Played Sims 2 and Sims 3 for a while, Sims 4 was the ultimate for a few years. Now it is unplayable. Stupid game requires updates monthly, sometimes even weekly, all of them break the game and ruin my mods that took lots of work to install. After the 10th time reinstalling my mods, the x-packs, and even the game when it acts dodgy, I just gave up, what's the use? EA you seem hell-bent on making us play THEIR games THEIR way and for no apparent reason. I'm not surprised at all that now EA is a purveyor of great big batches of games that no one wants. EA seems to have a corporate culture that is, if not actively hostile to their own customers, then one that totally ignores them.
EA, you went from make art to making crap, from customer-friendly to customer-hostile, and from making desirable and fun games, to making unimaginative, dull garbage filled games filled with bugs, glitches that require constant updates that break the game over and over. IDK if and when you'll come out with Sims 5, (since after destroying all fun factor in the Battlefield series, it is the only title of yours I could possibly be interested in). But judging from how Sims 4 plays now (when it plays at all), how much can I even expect from any new EA game? I thought "updates" were supposed to make games better, not worse, but that's exactly what Sims 4 does now, with every weekly update that breaks the game yet again.
After Sims 1 I bought 2, 3, and 4 the day they came out and price be damned, I wanted to play and see how much the game improved ASAP because that's what the developers had achieved with every sequel game. But now even if/when you release Sims 5 I am going to wait a year before a buying decision. Given the continuing downward trend in EA's game development, and barely concealed antagonism towards their own customer base, this time I'll let others be your test players.
This is a plea to anybody at EA in charge who has the influence and who might be reading this, that I hope you have the business acumen to reverse course from the slow death spiral of a (formerly excellent) game development studio. And if you won't, or can't do this, then I have to tell you that I am surely not alone in having no desire to own even one more over-complicated, glitchy, PITA games we have been getting from EA for the last ten years.
