Re: Slow Download Speeds on EA app

Hey all, if seeing slow download speeds then can you try the following steps please:

• Disable all background programs on your system (including Steam). You can also do this with a clean boot
• Temporarily disconnect all other devices that you don't need from your network
• Use a wired connection
• Make sure Origin is accepted in your anti-virus and firewall

1. I already tried that and it hasn’t worked.

2. we are talking about the new EA desktop app and not origin.

Weird how every community manager posts this EXACT same comment and it never works for folks all over the world. fix your servers

that’s actual true just fix you servers it isn’t that hard. Or fix your terrible apps, the new app advertises faster downloads yet my download speeds are just as bad as origins

Asking gamers to open ports and mess with their firewall isn't very good. Origin just worked. 

The download speed is rubbish, can't apply an update unless you leave the computer for a week, and also saying to stop all background applications is very poor service by EA. Lets just let the hackers have the game. BRING BACK ORIGIN!!!!!

Same here. The last Apex Legends Update (~300MB) needed an entire hour for me. On Origin that was a 2 minute thing...

I wanted to play battle field 2042 with my frien today (I bought ea play over Xbox Gamepass) but I needed to do an update and its now still preparing to download since about 50 minutes and its at 80% does somone knows asolution to that?

Nope it's just the EA app. All I got is an Xbox playing and at 500 Mbps on my isp this is a non answer

Hey there @ME_SPACE_LIZARD did you see the screenshot I attached in this thread, if seeing issues with slow connection please troubleshoot it. Testing it again as I type and hitting high download speeds for my downloads from the EA app.

I don't know why it is so hard to listen to what people are saying for EA community managers because the problem doesn't have anything to do with our PC's at all. Ever since the app fully launched I have been having issues with downloading games on your platform. Even if we talk about 200MB's of data. I have tried everything on your lists, nothing works. All my drivers are up to date, my router is up to date and works fine. And I get over 20MB/s on steam and other platforms. So I don't know what happened during the launch of your "amazing" app but my advice is. Get it fixed or get Origin back online since that platform actually worked as intended.

EA App through Wine need a clean boot... probably twice...

FYI: tried differend DNS, tried CloudFront 1.1.1.1 DNS's, tried to go IPv6 only - same results.

I don't get it why Origin downloaded the same stuff @ full bandwidth of my link but EA won't.

Hey @inoperable are you using Wine through Linux?

If so then I'm sorry to say but if you see issues when using an unsupported OS or programs then there is nothing we can do to assist.

Hey @Destiny_Is_Awake are you still seeing an issue, testing this right now and I am not seeing any issues with speeds and full game downloads taking a short time.

Just to update, download took under 3 minutes. If you are still seeing issues please try the troubleshooting in this thread.

I don't understand how the network download performance of content relates to that, but, I got the same results in windows as well.

I wanted to ask one thing, why do the EA APP need my Windows EABackgroundService.exe service installed and constantly running

when I don't use the EA App and what I this service exactly providing?

Exactly the same here !!! Except it's for F1 22.  I've been downloading a 1GB update for the last 45 minutes. Works crazy well

trying to update fifa 23 and im stuck on 0.00 bytes per second, its only this game that is this slow. Yes I tried the cache things and my internet/network is not the problen

Yeah this doesn't work and I shouldn't have to turn off other programs...means you dont want to fix your program. Please provide other steps that actually work 

Just fix you * * app. I have 1000MB/s download speed on speedtest.net, but literal KB/s speeds when updating BF2042

Like many other bugs or problems, everyone doesent experience it. Just cus it work for you doesent mean the app is working properly! I've experienced this problem many times now and im getting sick and tired of it. I've done all there is to do but the downloading speed is still around 400 Kb/s. (I have 250/ 100).

It works fine with any other game launcher but the ea app is'nt working properly. And dont try to prove that it work for you cus it doesent mean anything!! Get to the problem and fix the app or refund all my games that you are preventing me to download!
