Yes i've the same that was the reason why i stayed on Origen Client. I hate this app on the Download speed

  • Same here.

I opened Origins which said it had to update to the new app.

Having to re download all my games and it’s starting 8735798 hours to download a 2GB update.

Download speed is 141. Every other app, Steam etc, can download perfectly fine.

New EA App is woeful. I’ve given up trying to download my previously installed games. Left my laptop on overnight and it still hasn’t downloaded a 2GB update

  • Was having the same issue until I enabled the background downloads, maybe this can fix it for you as well.

    Go to settings>>downloads>>Enable background downloads,

Another problem can be that the file is getting saved in a place where there is no space

  • Open cmd as an administrator, enter netsh interface tcp show global for the first time, and enter netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal for the second time

  • Tried all solutions nothing works, vpns clean boot nothing. A strange thing I've noticed though which I'd like EA to answer though is on task manager ea background service is using 40mbps but my download rate for the game is around 4mbps, so why is the download rate for the game only 10% of what the EA background service is using? What's the other 35mbps being used for I'm not playing any games or looking through the store, is there a way to actually use the full 40mbps that ea background service is using on the actual game download?

Just unacceptable that this problem has gone on for this long with no resolution. WE ARE YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS!

  • Same here, was just downloading the latest patch for Jedi Survivor and I was getting dialup connection speeds, it would start downloading at about 20 MB/s (Steam usually downloads at 50-70 MB/s) but it would very quickly slow down to about 40 KB/s. Pausing the download and restarting it would cause the download speed to go back up very briefly then it would fall back down to dialup speeds again, took half an hour to download a 1.6 GB patch...

  • Mine is already set to normal, still getting slow downloads.

  • @kuru797 I wish this fixed it for me. But it was already enabled. I even disabled it and set it back to normal just in case. Having done ping tests, network monitoring, and other basic system/network testing I can also confirm that this is 100% the app.

What's my experience EA? MD100; SEC+, AZURE, CCNA trained. So yeah... a few of us know wth we are talking about and can troubleshoot and figure things out. I was doing a Ping test DURING your download and got over 600 MBPS while you were giving only 128 Kb/s.
  • I can concur to this issue. Trying to update Jedi Survivor when I got home at 6 PM. Currently 1115 PM. It is STILL having issues. First time it too 2.5 hours to just download 1 GB?!?! Are you kidding me??? It would stall and stop downloading. Would Pause/resume and it would then work sometimes for about 10 secs then stop again. I have logged out/back in. Nothing. It eventually finished after randomly starting and stopping again. Then it locked up doing it's verification. Restarted the App, and it got stuck at Preparing. Restarted again, it is NOW doing the Update AGAIN!!!!!!  Now it's stuck at 24%

    Fix actions Performed:
    Cleared Cache
    Ensured system is updated

Closed out all other programs (other than Task manager to watch ZERO network connectivity as well as no CPU/MEMORY usage!)
    Un-installed EA Desktop App/Re-installed.

Ran the EA Desktop App as administrator
    Restarted the PC
Continual Ping Tests to ensure stability

These are all things a user/customer should NOT have to do for a working program!!!!

    Running Windows 10, 21H2 version
    NVIDIA GTX 980ti
    16 GB RAM DDR3
    Windows and Drivers are up-to-date

  • EA is a joke and should stand for Early Access. They haven't put out one game that i can think of in the past couple years that is complete and ready to go at launch. with the exception of Jedi Fallen Order and NOW they royally screwed the pooch on this one and it's back to being a "game is good after the first year" type game and to top it off you can't even download a 2gb update in peace. I have been trying for 2 days and hace tried EVERY fix.....at the end of the damn game and i can't beat it cause even their stupid * app doesn't work. Always disappointed in EA but at least i could update a damn game in peace, now they put out broken games, broken apps, and broken updates lol and they don't have the common courtesy to fix it. I guess i'll be able to update this game in a year or so. pathetic smh

  • Have you askef for an refund yet? I know there is talk online about setting up a class action against EA. Individauls are pulling their TOS and speaking with attorneys because of the issues with this app. Not just Jedi Survivor, but that's the latest one. But several others as well.

  • I finally found the solution for me, i went on task manager and right clicked on switch to details on EA Background Service and then i changed priorities from normal to high. For me it changed my download speed from 4mbs to 25mbs -30 mbs

  • The EA app is the worst app for downloading games, my wifi speed is consistently in the 900 mbps range when connected to ethernet and this pathetic app only download at 9 mbps. What is the point of having your own app if you cant even fix it for *.

  • Where did you find the option for the priority change in the task manager. i dont have that option.

3 GB update for battlefield took me 1 hour..... what a joke...

    Go to settings>>downloads>>Enable background downloads

This fixed it for me, went from 2MB/s to my max of 35MB/s
