Re: EA app Fails to Remember "Keep me signed in" Option

Yep, same here.

BRAND NEW laptop, clean install, no bloatware, *only* EA app keeps forgetting login credentials (within hours). None of the other game launchers (Gog/Steam/UPlay/Rockstar/BattleNet/Xbox/Amazon) do this. It's becoming a pain. Gotten a lot worse since I linked my Game pass account a couple of days back.

I mean EA have to recognise there is an issue here.

I am going to change my password to something stupidly easy as there is no way I can remember a 16-character randomly generated strong password which is what it is using, so I have to go to my password cloud every single time, go through windows hello, then find the password in my list of thousands, then copy and then paste it into the app. Every time. Well, it managed to save credentials one time today when I waited 5 minutes between close and open. But now, 2 hours later, no reboot in between, nada, it's forgotten. Of course, remember details is checked.

Is it using cookies to remember by any chance? I use a cookie extension to safeguard cookies from certain sites, and the entire [removed] ea.com IS safeguarded from deletion, but it seems to happen more prominently after a browser history clean. Will put that theory to work tomorrow as right now I want to play for an hour and then go to bed as it's late here.

Regardless, it's an annoying mess. The fact they can't reproduce it is astonishing to me, as it happens to me constantly without any effort at all.

Quick specs

MSI GT77/13980HX/64GB DDR5/SSDx3/RTX 4090M/Win 11 Pro all up to date/Kaspersky Standard latest (and no, I will not disable my virus protection as a test, so don't even ask. I will not leave my system online unprotected, even for a minute, as Defender does not re-enable when you disable Kaspersky, I'd have to uninstall it which I am not doing).

It's irritating, and I can't even work around it by launching the games from game pass as it force opens the EA app if you do that anyway. I owned only about 17 EA titles prior this but now with game pass have access to dozens more so am tending to actually use the app more.

  • OK, Now I can't log in at all, even though I am logged in with the same details here.

Just tried both username and email, no dice, says my credentials are incorrect or expired.

    This is exasperating.

    Edit

I logged out of my ea.com account then back in then out then in.. NO PROBLEM

but the launcher still tells my my credentials are incorrect. I triple checked, copied again very carefully, no go.

So I followed the instructions to reset password, and now it's working, I managed to log in. The web browser kicked me off and I put the new password in there and that worked now too.

But the point remains - the web browser was happy to accept my old established log in details for both the forums and ea game site and the launcher was not, and obviously they are tied together cause as soon as I changed password in the launcher, the browser kicked me out till I put in the new password.

    So explain that!

All that said, we will see now, I will wait 10 hours and see if it remembers my login details in 10 hours, when I wake up tomorrow let's say.

If it works, I will clean browser cache, then try again and see what happens. right now I am not touching anything till tomorrow morning.

Edit 2, just thought I would check it quickly before I crash, it has already forgotten my login details on the app launcher ROFL.

TEN minutes is all it took. No cleaning cache or anything on my PC, I have touched nothing since I changed password.

I had to put it in manually again and I am back in again.

EA - YOUR APP IS BROKEN. Even if it affects only 20% of users it's still a nasty BUG. Luckily I just changed my password to something easier-ish, but I am not going to have the app start with windows and leave it open at all times just to stay logged in. I close the app (I exit from taskbar, I do NOT log out) when I am not using it.

Just to test it though, I will leave the app open all night as I sleep, and will see if I am still logged in when I wake up. I refuse to have the app start with windows though.. I use it the last of all my game launchers and am not going to have bloatware in memory when not using it.

At least I know for sure it has nothing to do with cookie and cache cleaning - the app is simply broken and can't remember log in details on certain config.

If it was my system in any way shape or form, other apps, even ONE, would play up in some way..but nothing else does. Heck, I haven't even had a single game crash yet in the 7 weeks I have had this laptop from brand new. Therefore by logical deduction the issue has to be with EA. I have added it as an exception in Kaspersky from all scanning including traffic, again, "just in case", and we will see. But I know it's not that either. It's just broken and only one group of people can fix it. EA coders.
