Re: Mac EA app - "Something went wrong" - Error EC:106 on EA app for Mac

I have this issue (EC:106) as well after being kicked off Origin. I have updated my MacBook Pro (15" 2018) to OS version Sonoma 14.5. I downloaded the 5/15 version of the EA app. I did a clean uninstall of the crashing EA app and restored my laptop. I installed the newest version of the EA app and restarted my computer. I launched the EA app and received an error assuring me a quick restart would resolve the issue. A restart of the app did not resolve the issue. I then received the EC:106 error. I am at home with a very reliable network connection, so the error is a bit baffling. Restarting my computer did not resolve the issue.

I granted the EA app full disk access (which it should not need) and that did not resolve the issue. I disabled my antivirus software (which should not be necessary), did a full clean uninstall and reinstall of the EA app, and that did not resolve the issue. Please reenable Origin for Mac until you have resolved the issues with the EA app on Mac.

Hi, don't know if your problem got solved but I may have a solution, I don't know if it'll works for you but it definitely worked for me :

1- Download Origin for mac (you can find it below "Download EA app" on the official website)

2- Install it like it was the first time

3- A window will pop and saying that you need to update to EA app

4 -Do the update and then after that the EA app will work and open without problem

I'm not an expert so I may be wrong.

Hope it will help you !!

  • it gives me the same error code, nothing is helping... can you please help me with this?

Hi, I just saw that you had the same issue as me. You have to input the password to your mac computer , or computer in general, and not your EA account. I just got the EC: 106 error to go away and it took me back to my game center dashboard.

I've been having this error code for weeks now, haven't been able to play at all. Every time I try to open the app it asks me for my password (yes, my Macbook password) and it just comes up with an error EC:106 - I've tried deleting and reinstalling and nothing. Can anybody help?

When does the error occur: opening the app

Your Mac model name: Macbook Air M2 2022

What version of macOS are you using: Sequoia 15.3.1

Timestamp when the issue first occurred (date/time): Around the start of Feb, can't remember exact date.

Yup this works! it looks like ea is asking for your password but it is actually your code for the MacBook itself.
