It's not that EA can't fix the issue, it's that they don't care to. Their support system is outsourced, and don't really have a desire to actually help outside of routine cases. If you can somehow find anyone outside of support to help you, it is possible, as some people have done so through other contacts. It's actually a simple problem to fix, the only issue is that they can't be bothered.
