When I'm trying to launch the Sims 4 game, after the latest update, all I get is DisplayName field missing from registry. The pop up then wants me to login, but after I do that it says, Error and that my computer are not connected to the internet. I am definitely connected to the internet. What is going on? Is this a bug caused by the new update or is this just a problem I am facing?
Greetings fellow Simmers, I am currently going through a problem with my game that makes me want to shout forbidden words.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app.
I checked for updates on my computer, the app, and Steam.
All of my games have been purchased either via Steam or the EA app.
I played for an hour yesterday, with no issues. It was only after the update (I just updated this morning) that the following began to happen.
So, then I scramble to find my login info, and then THIS pops up.
Which doesn't make sense. I'm online! My DxDiag is included. I don't know what else to do, I've got about 20 tabs open now trying to work through this problem!

After the Sims 4 update yesterday anytime I launch the game I get the DisplayName field missing from registry, and then when i try to log in it tells me that I'm not connected to the internet but I know that I am. I just want to play the sims... does anyone know how to fix this?

I have EA App set to auto login when the laptop is switched on. I downloaded the 28/05/24 update for The Sims 4 on 29/05/24. The app opens normally; all other functions are normal and the other games I have installed work normally from the app as expected (tested with Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3). The Sims 4 update appears to have downloaded normally, but every time I try to open the game, I then get a popup window asking for my login details due to an error "DisplayName field missing from registry". If I apply my login details, I get a further popup, stating my laptop is offline, and I can't verify the DisplayName offline. The laptop is not offline. Game was fine prior to update.
Remedies tried; laptop restart, fixing game in the app, deleting cache in app, deleting cache manually, updating mods (the ones I use already had updates for the 28/05/24 update), uninstalling all mods, uninstalling all custom content, reinstalling EA App (suggested on this site for what was apparently the same issue, but with a different game, in 2022); none of these have affected the issue.

It seems that some of you are encountering this error because your antivirus, antimalware, or firewall is not allowing the EA app for PC or The Sims 4 for PC to function correctly.
Please try manually allowing or making an exception for the EA app for PC and The Sims 4 for PC in your security software, and see if this resolves the issue. We've received several reports indicating that Comodo Internet Security might be one of the programs blocking the game and the app from working as intended.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please generate an EA app Error Reporter ID and share it in this thread as asked by @EA_Solaire here, so we can investigate further.
