Not sure if origin supports a Nintendo controller.
If you connect a PS4 or Xbox controller via USB that should work for sure. (tested this myself)

Just tested this and I think you need a controller for the second player.

Still it's a bit frustrating, not to have known before buying...
If there's anyone else with input on the topic, how to get going without spending even more on a new controller (that I will probably only use for this game)...I'd be happy to know.

Just to let you know, that the problem is solved.
Leanings:
- It takes two can't be played with only one keyboard of the same computer. At least one controller is needed.
- Switch pro controllers can in fact be used, they are supported by steam (as well as PS4, 5 and Xbox) - it took for me to find the settings
- It takes two is a really cool game

@Wumpelkumpelwell there is one thing u can do .........i know your problem is solved so this is for someone else if they have the same issue.........u can use a app called "PC remote" and stimulate your android device as the controller......thats how i play with my friend....no need to buy another controller....and a quick side tip....search up what "PARSEC APP" is 😉

hab genau das selbe Problem. mein Pc und Steam erkennen beide switch controller aber das Spiel leider nicht, es erkennt nur einen. Ich hab das Spiel über Origins gekauft aber mit der Steam Bibliothek verbunden. Hast du eventuell nen Tipp wie du dein Problem gelöst hast ?
hello I have a similar problem: I want to play offline mode with my friends on the same computer with two xbox controllers, but I can't choose player 2, either controller or keyboard can only select player1 with a pattern of the keyboard and mouse.My controllers are effective in steam and other games, so I really don't know what to do, one of my controllers is wired and the other is bluetooth, maybe it could be a problem? This is solved but the problem remains because the controller cannot be recognized. I have a controller that it is visible through steam but when I am running "It Takes Two" from EA Play I am not able to use that controller.
- I have tried with steam app closed or open,
- I have tried to plug in the controller before and after lunching the game
Any ideas?

- @Niquitass Hey I had the same problem, I used this guide and it worked out using two GameCube controllers, I'm sure other types of controllers can be mapped. https://gamerinfo.net/game/it-takes-two/x360ce/
You say "Switch pro controllers can in fact be used". Is what you meant to say Switch Pro Controllers MUST be used"? It does not respond to my Bluetooth controller at all although other games do.
- @MrDevilX07 Parsec Did not work for me. Parsec does not detect "It Takes Two" as running, so I cannot select it to host.
So if my friend is playing on friend pass in his PC at home. Can we both use keyboard to play? Or must one of us use controller, or does the 1 control 1 keyboard applies for same PC?

May God bless you and reveal Himself to you! I have two controllers plugged into two different plugs into my laptop. It recognizes player one and the keyboard which is not helpful. I would like it to recognize the second controller as player two. Where in the settings can I add the second controller?
