Wild Hearts PC Crash on Launch after the " EA Originals " screen

I have Wild Hearts on Steam and the game worked perfectly fine up to Monday 20th of February.

Since the hotfix that day, the game keep crashing on Launch.

Wherether I try to launch the game through steam, EA app or directly on the exe, the first loading screen appears followed by the short video " EA Originals ".

After that, the screen goes dark and the game stop responding, whenether I let the video play or not.

I have tried all the troubleshooting I could find on this forum or steam ( Rapair game files, Run in admin mode, not run in admin mode, disable full screen optimisation, deleting save files, deleting save folder, re-installting the game, the EA clients, both, deleting both game and EA app folders, disabling VPN, Anti-virus, running Windows in safe mode ) and nothing worked so far.

The game always crash at the exact same moment, in the theorical loading screen following the short video " EA Originals " and before loading the main menu screen.

Game worked perfectly fine until Monday but no longer.

Windows and Graphic drivers are up to date.

Today's patch didn't solve anything.

The event logs shows this message for the crash : "Event 1002 Application Hang. Le programme WILD HEARTS.exe version 1.0.0.0 a cessé d'interagir avec Windows et a été fermé. "

Further messages from the even logs only shows " unknown error ".

The only thing I can tell from that is it's rather curious Windows indicate version 1.0.0.0 even though multiple hotfixes happened.

Could it come from a version discrepency somewhere ?

It seems I have identified the issue plaguing me.
It was indeed a save file corruption.

Alas, fiddeling or deleting the PLAYSAVEDATA01, SYSTEMSAVEDATA or WILD HEARTS changed naught.

Those directories remained empty even after launching the game, until they were not ?
It seems like cloud save on the EA side of things either checked the cloud save andor updated the directory from time to time as it would fill up on occasion even thought the game always failed to launch.

Going in offline mode was pointless as the game simply refused to launch with the EA app on offline mode or with my connection offline.

What I did to solve the problem was to launch the game through the EA app while being online and when the Wild Heart executable file appeared on my task manager, I would cut off my internet.

The first time it crashed the app before launching but the second time, I received an error message from the EA app saying my save files couldn't be downloaded from the cloud and if I launched the game as it, it would be lost.
After said message appeared, the game finally launched ( with my previous save lost ).

From that experience, I can safely says that the crash on launch was indeed due to corrupted save file on the cloud, preventing most troubleshooting on my side of things.

  • Yes it did.
I also did a clean re-install after the patch launched but to no avail.

  • @CorsinusPrimes Just had someone else try the following. I see you did some opposite steps but I am curious if they work for you as well.

This evening I was able to find a solution to the launching problem by locating the .exe file & turning off run as admin & disable full-screen optimization, I don't have any recollection of turning them on in the first place, but after that reloading steam & the EA App, then launching Wild Hearts directly from the EA App I was able to get it to load.

In addition, I also logged out of the EA App at one point & unchecked all the auto remember & login boxes before logging in with the steam link account button on the login window, I'm unsure if this was any help at this point as I had done both before I tried booting the game again, but it worked.

I already tried something similar but did follow your step by step nontheless, just in case.

Unfortunatlye, result is still the same.

I've seen a fair few peoples report the same issue with vastly different configurations, either here, on Steam or or Reddit.
I understand that the problem might either take time or be difficult to patch, regardless, is it possible to have an aknowledgment that the analysis of the issue and correction of it is somewhat in the pipeline ?

At the moment, the game is litterally unplayable for me and unless I can have some hope and acknowledgment regarding this issue, even if the patch cycle isn't as fast as i'd hope for, I'll be forced to look for every possible venues to get a refund for this product.

@CorsinusPrimes apologies I don't see it, can you try to edit your response, or reply again and confirm it uploads?
