Brake Assist & Understeer

I have been really struggling with the brake assist and subsequent understeer at certain corners. T1 at Bahrain and the second to last turn at Australia to name but a few where it seems that the brake assist is marginally too late which then forces you off the racing line and being unable to race.

This needs to be addressed as currently for myself and others it’s not enjoyable. More needs to be done for casual players! Finding it difficult to keep playing right now.

P.S. If you are going to comment on this saying how fun it is to play with no assists please don’t bother.

  • @jlawlor97458Dude your game. Play it your way. I’m not entirely sure if this will help as this setting is what I use for manual braking. But if your brake bias is set to default 63% try moving back to 56-58%.

    As for understeer. The default setups are setup to be stable so that means increased understeer. Easiest way to reduce it is to have your front wing set higher than your rear wing. Start by increasing front 2 clicks higher than rear. then keep increasing by 2 until you find something you like.

    Or you can decrease rear wing if your using full traction control

  • I think the reason people often bring up "no assists" on posts like these is this:

    If you're a casual player just messing about for a bit of fun, then fine use some assists, nothing wrong with that. But don't expect it to perfectly navigate you around the circuit. They're mean't to keep you between the white lines and lessen the extremes of your mistakes, not perfectly guide you around each lap.

    Also if you are starting to worrying about optimizing your racing line, accurately hitting braking points, fine tuning the balance of the car (understeer vs oversteer), etc ... at that point it's just a natural progression to turn them off. That's generally the path most people take.

    @KVNR01 I get what the OP is saying. Constructive help is always welcome. But all too often Git Gud Elitists will reply to boast how amazing they are whilst shoehorning in they use no assists and beat 110ai last to first in 5 lap races. And don’t actually offer any actual help.

    Thanks everyone. In all honesty I’ve never really messed with the setup in previous games and managed fine.

    A brief change in brake bias and wings has made a huge difference. Hopefully one day I can run without any assists.

    @jlawlor97458 Happy to help👍

    I would recommend turning off brake assist and use ABS instead. You can use racing line to get a feel for braking points.
