The only solution is for EA/codies to make the license actually mean something again and get rid of silly things like Auto Return to Track. The collision/warning/penalty system and the punishment for leaving a ranked race after being put in the wall in T1 all need to be changed.
I can't believe we have super cars big dumb avatars and couches instead of some sort of Academy that teaches folks how you're supposed to race in F1. Make it part of earning a license and then you gain access to Ranked Lobbies.
The problem is the bulk of the player base is made up of casual players. If they find themselves off in the wilderness and can't just "return to track they're just going to quit out. Likewise having an overly harsh penalty system is just going to cause people to quit playing the game.
While having an Academy system is a nice idea in theory most people will do the bare minimum to scrape through without out actually learning anything just to "check the box", just like the modern education system in real life lol.
Ultimately as I alluded to earlier you are trying to force a square peg into a round hole by making ranked lobbies with randoms mean something. Most serious online sim racers will find a league of like-minded races either through Discord, Reddit, or an online racing forum like Race Department.

(I guess they call themselves Overtake now)

I'll hold firm that if they could figure out the Collison/penalty system and male the safety rating mean something then ranked lobbies would instantly improve. If someone can't manage without Auto Return then they can race at the lower levels just like now. It causes way more problems then it solves and it's a joke that it's on.
I'd love to have time to race in a league but that's out of the question.
None of this really matters. There have been 623,876 post about ranked lobbies and to my knowledge they've addressed 1 thing, strict corners(thank god).
