EA have done nothing of the sort. CM have merely released yet another bug ridden F1 Game, a pattern that repeats itself all the way back to the beginning of their involvement in making the F1 Series. For all that, I still buy the games, though not every year, and find it’s usually best to wait a few months for the usual round of bug fixes. After all that, it’s time to make a decision to purchase or not (i.e. can I live with the bugs that remain and won’t be fixed?) This is a strategy that has served me well up to now and I enjoy my purchases. I’m not an online player though, and don’t use a wheel so that means I avoid at least those couple of yearly bugfests. GP mode is usually where it’s at for me though I have ventured into a couple of career modes in previous titles.
- 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 Lol, I did break my rule this year though and purchased it a few weeks after release, mainly down to people being thrilled with the new handling model. I haven’t even started playing F123 though, I probably will fire it up within the next few days starting off with the story mode. Perhaps by the time I’m done with that mode some of the other bothersome things will have been fixed, such as the volumetric fog which sounds absolutely awful at Bahrain which happens to be one of my favourite races.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@kismet8051 I did braking point at launch to get it out off the way. Not a single issue to be fair. But I think it depends on platform. PS5 is ok. Not had a single crash or freeze in 100 hours. The fog isn’t that bad. Only thing I found with it. Was when looking behind it takes a millisecond to go from clear to fog

Dropping my two coins in:
* As an employee of software company, I understand the frustration with bugs in software. However, when you focus on bug fixing every time someone raises an issue, you'll never fix anything properly and you'll never improve anything, either. Pushing developers to work on new stuff every time someone complains about something has much more disruptive effect.
They must decide on priorities to move their software forward. However, I get the feeling that CM's priorities are pushed by EA to wrong direction and therefore proper fixes are scarce and new bugs are introduced.
* Re new bugs, I just got a weird one. After the race, game gave me error message that highlight reel was not created due to an error. I could see it in after-race summary, though. It just wasn't in Theatre menu. Quite odd as I didn't expect it to be available in "View highlights" in race summary menu, either. Even not sure if it is a new bug as it never happened before to me.
* Night races are still weird when I use cockpit view. Everything around halo and halo column is pixelated, with big squares, so it's blurry and distracting. Even with halo column off, pixelation happens around all elements on front of the car (antennas, etc.)
(I play on PC (Steam) with graphics set to Ultra High)
- 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 I’m on PS5 so that’s encouraging.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@P4st3l1ak That highlights big has been in game since last game

This video, while not "F1" related or directed at EA specifically, beautifully sums up the overall situation that EA has decided to place itself in.

The tl;dw version: Actually good games, like BG3, are causing some studios to 'panic' thinking that fans will expect a better product, instead of the cash-grab, bug-filled nonsense that some people continue to put out every year.
EA has released one patch every two weeks since launch, fixing a small handful of issues each time, for a game that released with a massive amount of inexcusable bugs. Some of these inexcusable bugs remain almost two months after launch, with no sign of urgency on being corrected.
Larian, publishers and developers of BG3, have released 3 patches since August 3rd, fixing (cumulatively) nearly one thousand bugs of various severity. Notably including two patches one day apart that each fixed a few hundred things. ONE DAY APART.
I know which company looks like they care, and which company I'd rather support. BG3 is likely to be the GOTY winner. F1 is going to be...just another forgettable entry in a list of yearly DLC failures.
Why not be more like Larian, EA?

Thanks for confirmation. This is the first time it happened to me so I guess it's an intermittent issue then. I wonder what is the trigger for this highlight problem, it cannot be something simple. - P4st3l1ak2 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Trekari
This is an example of what developers should do. Set priorities, scrap useless features gamers don't even want and give players the experience they expect instead of maximising their profit.
And I liked BG3 early release, much better approach than closed betas. We could feed back info about game and pin-point problems and bugs so they were able to fix major issues prior official release date. And that's great because you have much, much larger pool of testers than company can afford to buy internally. The profit will eventually come because gamers will share their experience that will attract more of them.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@P4st3l1ak Don’t know Bruv. I delete all the saved highlights. With this game I think it’s better to delete or disable everything I’m not using. Less to go wrong Lea bugs imo😆

I play on PC and I always export them on disk first, then remove them. usually right after the race. - 2 years ago
Why this is happen, when 2 lap left, and have a lot of fuel, and the game give me lean fuel mix... This is very annoying.

Another bug in F1 World, 5 laps, 25%, 50% race events, you can't change your setup, it's locked, like my goals.
This game is getting worse...
- 2 years ago@RobbyJr24 It seems that you've found more bugs than their entire 'team' of people who allegedly test this game.
Makes one wonder whether the 'team' of people who 'test' this game are nothing but another big, fat, EA lie. - 2 years ago@RobbyJr24 With a super licence level of B or worse it was always locked for me in the solo series and solo/multiplayer events

Because bugs are not enough...😞
Launched wet condition race, and you can see, the track is full Dry!
i'm done with this game... Instant delete for me!

So since I posted in this thread, I started a new career (original save got ruined by a bug, surprise surprise) and in every single race, plus many practice and qualifying sessions, I've experienced at least one issue. I'd feel like I'd be doing Codemasters' job if I sat and logged/reported every one of them. They should be finding these problems themselves, pretty easy to if you actually play through a bit, something I was always seeing staff saying on the old forums ("we love the sport so much we play the game in our spare time" etc). Why aren't they finding these bugs like we are?
Straw that broke the camel's back was seeing the red flag tyre strategy/allocation bug reappear today, even though I swore I saw them say they fixed it weeks ago. I've re-reported it (I originally reported it in July IIRC), but again, it's this whole deja vu thing we had with F1 22 where there would be fixes in the patchnotes, but the bugs were still in the game, like nothing had been done at all. It's as if whoever's in charge of fixing and testing are just sitting on the job and then just saying "yeah, we fixed it" when they were watching TV the whole time. So many times last year, and now it's happening all over again. Worse still, seeing bugs get flat out dismissed or denied when a bunch of us are clearly experiencing something. What the hell is going on?
Anyway, I've uninstalled. I never even intended to buy the game at all this year after the shambles that was F1 22, but after being led to believe that things had changed around here, like an idiot, I bought it. I gave them a final chance. And while at first the game seemed fantastic, it has, yet again, gone backwards, and what seemed like tiny pinholes have with time become huge, gaping tears in the fabric of the game. And again, 2 months into a £70 purchase that's supposed to last a year (like I said, wouldn't have spent it if I had any inkling that things hadn't improved, I honestly though there had been a huge turnaround here, that mistakes had been learned from), I'm done. They've blown it. I'm going to stick to older games and perhaps even pray that Geoff Crammond comes out of retirement with Grand Prix 5 (unlikely). I highly doubt that all these problems will be fixed by next year, F1 22 sure as hell wasn't.
- mariohomoh2 years agoHero (Retired)@s00zster That was a sad one to read. Will you stick around for the (real) F1 talk even still though?
Doesn't feel right seeing the community chipping away like this. Specially when it comes to veterans of the original forums. - 2 years ago
For me, since this patch and starting a new save (driver career) formation lap, safety car and red flag settings get disabled and locked after every race. I have to remember to check before every race weekend then temporarily set to 100% distance, change the settings to on then switch to 35%. Will work for that weekend but gets disabled the next so always have to remember to check.
I have had audio issues that I didn’t have before. The driver of the day is never right. Always shows one thing on the screen but a different name when spoken. Every race so far has done this. Also wrong about some analysis during the pre race voice over like saying I made a big mistake last race when I haven’t. I really don’t care about this stuff but it is a bug.
Getting over taken by AI during safety car and then not being allowed to pass them. I’ve had this issue in all the F1 games I have ever owned (2017, 2021,22 and 23). This one is frustrating but at least I can flashback.
Mid race save issue. Only had this one once as I had to go somewhere and when I came back and tried to resume, it looks like all will be fine, I see the replay and get to the point where it says to flashback but right when I get control I get an error message on the screen (don’t recall exactly what it said) and then it just starts the race again with the lights about to go out. Tried a bunch of times and same thing happened so just did the race again.
This isn’t a bug or anything but during weather cross over periods wear I’m on slicks and track starts to get wet and lose grip but still not ready for inters, I am sliding around like crazy and can barely tap the brake or throttle without locking up or losing the rear yet the AI just blow by me like it’s nothing and by the time I pit for inters my race is done. A frustrating experience.
Night race cockpit view blurry textures. This one is very distracting and hopefully gets resolved soon. If you can’t resolve, at least turn off volumetric fog on consoles.
Handling is great and my favourite so far in the games I have owned. I do love this game just for the driving. Idon't play multiplayer, don’t care about F1 world or Braking Point and just play, Career, My Team, TT and GPs. Bugs that don’t affect gameplay don’t bother me but it does show the lack of polish and care that I would have expected from a big company, especially bugs that I have seen over and over again and ones that get patched in past games but reappear in the new ones. That is just unacceptable imho. I am lucky I haven’t had issues with my wheel or any bug that is game breaking. Feel for those who have and are still waiting for fixes.
Just my 2 cents.
- 2 years ago@mariohomoh Can do. I mean I've never actually gone in there before because while I've followed real F1 since the mid 90s, it's not something I've ever really felt confident enough speaking to others about. I always assume I don't know enough compared to everyone else! 😁 I can drop in, though, definitely.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@s00zster Dude I post in there… It’s my thread. I know nothing😁. We want you to stick around because we like you not because you know about real F1 😁👍
- 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 Aw mate, thanks. 😁👍
