Extremely disappointing. So that's me out this year as I have no interest in the game now and I guess I wont be the only one feeling this way. See you in a years time to see if they realise what opportunity they just let pass by. Good look to the next racing game that chooses to ride on the wave of GT7's success in VR.
Poor codemasters and EA. really poor.
They should open a Go Fund Me page so we can all chip in…
🙄
- 2 years ago@coopa300 There is a reason why EA was voted the worst company for many years in a row

People somehow appalled that PSVR2 support won't be included should bear in mind that F1 23 development will have started a couple of years ago. There's also a fair chance of a major game engine change soon once support for last gen consoles is dropped, after which effort for something like this feels more likely to me.
I wouldn't be surprised if EA were also talking time to assess PSVR2 sales and the likely market if they did go to the effort of adding support. Those who own and like the system will obviously want support but if this is a tiny fraction of total players then they need to weigh up putting resources into this over other changes that far more players would appreciate.
- 2 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 Sales have nothing to do with it, psvr2 was released in feb. Less than 4 months before release of the game. They had to wait atleast 1 month te look at sales and normaly a game goes gold atleast 2 weeks for release so if they wanted to add support development had to start way before release.
As for time, vr could easy be outsourced to another studio as they did in the past so that isn’t a reason as well. They allready have the vr code they just need to port is to ps5, stupid thing is sinds the game is ported to pc, xbox, ps5 whatever why leave the vr part out.
It just doensn’t make sense - ScarDuck142 years agoLegend
There are processes before they just dump a load of time and resources into something. Especially VR that has struggled to get any traction for decades.
A company like EA doesn’t gamble innovating. They wait see what’s going to definitively work make money before they invest.
VR isn’t worth is to them yet the numbers are not there. I have a PS5 and have no intention of buying a VR kit abs the same can be said about the majority of PS5 players.
Bigger the cooperation the least likely they are to innovate. They leave the indie developers to take most off the gambles.
only reason it’s on GT7 is cause VR2 is made by Sony. So it GT7
@Ultrasonic_77 Is right who is also on PS5
- 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 The point is if no one makes games for vr nobody is going to buy vr and if nobody is buying vr nobody will make games. However they have developt vr for pc so it’s not like they need to start from scratch for psvr2
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend
@ha6hk3w77mwjWhich is probably why VR has taken so many decades to gain any traction. It’s definitely on the up. But it’s a few years away atleast before it becomes the norm
Problem is despite psvr2 being awesome. The numbers who have it are still very low. - 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 I don’t think official numbers have been out (could be wrong)
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@ha6hk3w77mwj Don’t really need to be. Majority of people I know who have PS5 dont have it and don’t intend to anytime soon
- 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 That’s pure speculation, you havn’t talked to the majority of people, just a small amount on internet. I don’t kniw how many millions ps5 have been sold but you read maybe a cupple of hundred post
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend
@ha6hk3w77mwjDo you think when polls are made they ask majority off people? Ofcourse they don’t. Most polls on all things are made from a few thousand people. I watch a lot I read a lot and I talk to a lot. And I’ve been around for a very along time. To know a thing or two.
- 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 I’ve been gaming for 30 years, i know a thing of two aswell. And making a survey based on comments on website doesn’t mean anything. How these things go is at some point Sony will release sale numbers and then you know. If you read a lot than you know based on internet comments that a lot of people who never bought a F1 game where planning on buying thus one for the vr support
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend
@ha6hk3w77mwjI don’t just read on here 🙄
Vast majority of gamers are casual. Vast majority that buy and play F1 games are casual. They don’t play enough to be ready to pay out for VR until it’s the must have. Currently it isn’t.

Also note that F1 22.in VR on PC has not been very successful overall from what I can tell.
To go back to one of your earlier replies, sales/revenue will absolutely be the ultimate deciding factor, but this can be taking a long term view rather than immediately being profitable. My guess is that PSVR2 support will come in time but my points as to why it hasn't with F1 23 remain valid I feel.
- 2 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 I respectfully disagree with you point for reasons mentioned before

@Ultrasonic_77I don’t know if they were or not… But do think it’s will be Sonys own studios that will be the main factor on how quickly the player base grows. Which is a huge plus for psvr2 as there are many. If they knock it out off the park like GT7 then more people will invest in VR. But don’t expect to see this until next year.
NFS Unbound is I suppose a test case for EA as it’s new gen only…. Sales suffered hugely for it. So launching a game for still a small player base on PS5 along with an even smaller VR player base? Nope - 2 years ago
Well... sales/revenue will absolutely be the ultimate deciding factor.
Agree... almost.
But what if we look about sales from different angle? I mean - how many EA loses, not adding support for PSVR?!
Of course - if there's no VR support for PC version, then it's totally understandable, that EA will not invest in making ONLY PSVR2 version... But - if F1 have VR support for PC version, then I'm pretty sure, that making PSVR2 version isn't so big investment, that it will not worth for EA.
For me it is simple - GT7 "ruined" me! I will never buy any game without PSVR2 support anymore. For example - I bought every single release F1 series since 2008 I guess. I will definitely skip F1 23, if it will not support PSVR2.
- 2 years ago@Toy4584 That’s my point exectly how much would it cost to port something they allready developt. I will buy F1 ‘23 for my collection sinds i own every F1 game but i will buy it either next year when it’s €10 or better used when it’s cheap, i won’t play it anyway. Like you said GT7 VR haa changed the game
- 2 years ago
Of course, every PSVR2 owner isn't racing genre fan. (but I'm pretty sure, that most PSVR2 owners got GT7).
But even if there are only 20% or even 10% PSVR2 owners, who like to play racing games, then I'm quite sure, that most of them will skip new racing games, if theres no PSVR2 support.
I don't know, how many PSVR2 are sold... Some say 200 000, some say 300 000, same say more... But even with 200 000 sold PSVR2, I guess it's potentially 10 000 to 50 000 buyers lost for F1 23....
(maybe I'm totally wrong, of course). 🙂
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@Toy4584 You maybe right… But bug companies like EA will wait until it’s in the hundreds of thousands. Which is most likely next year which will make more sense as next years game will almost certainly be current gen only.
Like I said before companies like EA follow trends they don’t gamble by trying to set them. - 2 years ago@ScarDuck14 Agree!... Well - it's more about "politics", than selling... 🙂
- 2 years ago
And one more "point"...
Right now there are no "proper" PSVR2 racing games (except GT7)... To be honest - there are not many "proper" games for PSVR2 at all! 🙂
So - I'm pretty sure, that PSVR2 owners are "hungry" right now! Hungry for any "decent" game, even if they usually don't buy or play some genres... Like me - I bought Horizon, just because it's in VR...
I guess right now, if F1 will have PSVR2 support, there are plenty of buyers, who in "normal" condition will never buy racing games. 🙂

"Philosophically"...
What is bigger challenge for EA - optimizing F1 23 for PS4 console or porting VR to PSVR2? 🙂
- 2 years ago@Toy4584 Porting to PSVR2 cause codemasters/ea doesn’t optimize, have you seen how the games run
