I gave the F1 World Series a quick play for the first time last night, and very quickly quit it out of boredom!
I'm a fairly average player, usually using around 90 AI level no assists on a controller. But i was winning every single race by about 20-30 seconds in 5 lap races.....
I didn't apply a single upgrade, just using the base F1 World Car for every race and it just felt like Time Trial as once i took the lead, there was zero threat from behind and no option to increase the difficulty.
What is the point in this mode if you're not a complete beginner at the game? Does it even get harder? If it does, I feel like at this rate I'll need to be playing for about 10 hours before it starts to become a challenge....

@SDGMatt And then you have other series like the "Advanced Driving I: Braking" that consists of three races around Monza. 5 laps, 5 laps and then 13 laps.
I think it is supposed to automatically lower braking related assists as you progress through the series, but if you already are playing the game with all assists set to off, it will essentially just be a time trial with traffic and nothing change between the events in the series.
