Sounds more than I expected if true.
Although career modes seem interesting. Sounds as though you earn resources/cash by completing challenges and for better or worse XP. But there isn’t enough detail in the article to be sure. Most off it seems based on what we already know and educated guesses

The "earn upgrades through challenges" thing sounds like a throwback to F1 2012 (every few races you'd be given a time to beat over 2 laps and there would be the possibility of a part being upgraded through the data the team got), which was more fun than banging around practice for R&D points in 5 or 3 different programs every race. That turns into a bit of a chore after a while and then I just end up skipping it altogether. It's a bit like Football Manager - there's only so much realism you can put into a game before the game element becomes lost and it becomes tedious.
However, this "boost" thing - while there's no details about what it is, it sounds horribly Need For Speed-y. Hope I'm wrong.

[...] a new car upgrade system that sees players earn parts to change their vehicle’s attributes.
These upgrades, Insider Gaming sources say, can be earned through challenges and by winning races and meeting win conditions.
[...] If you happen to get parts you don’t want to use, you can salvage them for extra money or expertise
Hmm... Not my cup of tea. Reads like the seeds of a loot box system.
We all know the R&D we had was chronically unsatisfying. It's been all but broken, if not actually broken, once you got past two or three seasons worth of upgrades.
But still felt more authentic than "George, we need you to finish 5th so that we get to unwrap that big box on the garage. We don't know yet if it's a new front wing or that new push-rod rear suspension you wanted, but it does smell like a blue rare part and we're all counting on you! If Lewis finishes on top 5 too he'll open a purple ultra rare part!"
Edit: tagging @TotosHeadphones as you posted the same piece on the other thread. Please be more optimistic than this poor friend of yours that's still sour for losing the hexa last December 🥲
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@mariohomoh Or go to the store and buy the next upgrades to save you time and from getting the wrong one 😁

I completely missed that bit, potentially pay to win? Hmm.
- mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)@ScarDuck14 Daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn now you just roundhouse kicked me in the gut 😨
- mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)@s00zster I guess if it is on single player mode it's not technically pay to win, but yeah. Potentially just as bad as Ubisoft's "hey, pay for this XP boost so you don't have to grind on our new bloated Assassin's Creed!"
Mind you, we're just speculating here. And choosing to do so on the pessimistic end of the scale – these are all just a few vague lines from an unvetted source. But no harm in expressing our concern.
Just imagine though if we still get a broken, unbalanced car by season 3, but now upgrades are earned by RNG instead of developed in a managerial style? 🥲 - ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@mariohomoh Last good assassins creed for me was syndicate. London obviously was a huge draw. But the fact you could only level up to 10. Great game and no endless grind. Then they lost the plot with the following games endless tedious grind unless you boat time savers. A joke.
