Am I the only one that thinks that cars ghosting when they spin totally ruins Esports and the other high level leagues?I remember last year Opmeer getting tagged at Imola and everyone else just driving through him as his car ghosted. I was watching a bit of PGSL footage from Saudi race, similar thing happened. I don’t do online racing, but is this the same everywhere else?I hope this will stop, because I don’t think I’ll be spending time watching Esports this year otherwise…cheers, P

TCAM makes me not want to watch it. These so called pro’s should be mandated in cockpit view. Why make it easier than real life? Real pro’s don’t sit on their halo too don’t they? but tcam gives widescreen view and gives an instant time gain compared to cockpit view, which makes driving each lap fast and consistant 100 times harder. as long as the “pro’s” don’t drive like pro’s, i can’t take any form of esports serious. Iracibg, rracing, rennsport force players in cockpit. esports is a joke as long as the pro’s use cheats like Tcam. and before people start hating: i have seen multiple esport “pro’s” been on TV, and mandatory in cockpit view, they fail hopelessly, and are seconds slower and then the excuses come out like “i am used to tcam, i can’t see the track, blabla” come out. yeah driving like an actual pro harder than a widescreen view from up top.

Let’s not start the TCAM discussion. I fully agree with you!

@peter75pc Its not real life racing...there is no time to react when the whole pack is covered by less than 3 seconds or less.One mistake could take out most or all of the grid.They would have even less time to react if they weren't using Tcam.

@zombie182Excuses excuses…(not specifically you, but the esport drivers, they just want the easy way) i race cockpit cam, I use the proximity arrows, backmirror to compensate the loss of side mirrors, never had any problem. It has to do with awareness, and simply getting used to. But no matter what, you will never be as fast or consistant as on tcam. Let me say, those cam setup vids, they explain that they set it up to see as much in front as possible to be able to hit all apexes and consistancy. Never heard the “see whosnexttome” excuse, but that could be because i don’t care about a pro challenge thing when people are allowed to use crutch cam settings. they are the pro’s right? Then they should be the best. And should be soo good that knowing who’s next to them is automatism. They should have so much skill that things like that are no issue. Then you have pro skills. And if I can do races without hitting people, (not saying i’m a pro!) then it should be peanuts for them! Tcam is used to consistantly hit the apexes, see the next turn way up ahead, position the car wach round the same way. Why do you think the times are so close?And indeed @BadMayh3m mistakes are easier made. JUST LIKE IN REAL. Because it’s harder, mistakes are easier made, and it only improves the racing when people have a harder time to go lap after lap the exact same way. It’s like looking at robots racing, while in cockpit view you need to be much more aware, careful, and you can’t hit each apex perfect like on tcam, resulting in mistakes.Tcam is a form of assist/cheating. Everyone says they use tcam because it’s the quickest, not because they can see what’s around them. Just watch how much the look back button is pressed. I get dizzy and the “pro’s” developping parkinsons.cockpit view is trash indeed though, since FOV slider includes the whole cockpit which is stupid btw, in car your fov doesn’t change because you “sit in a fixed position, but apparently it’s hard to make only everything outside the cockpit change like it’ss supposed to be. (Or easier to program.)

@BadMayh3m I know it’s not real life racing (although some people on this forum seen to insist it is….) But it just looks unrealistic to me and somehow unfair that the person in p15 can just go full throttle on the racing line when 2 cars in front spin. Maybe the fact they all run within drs trains within inches means there is something that should/could be changed in future. I fully agree it is a game/sim and does not come close to the real thing. Just an old mans view.

As I said, good simracing titles go hard on features and development to ameliorate those limitations in other ways, making cockpit cam actually really nice to go with. Even if we had the option to go with bumper cam or T-cam on iRacing, I wouldn't - just like virtually everyone goes with cockpit cam on ACC even though the sim has other cameras enabled for gameplay.
F1 is not on the same level though.
Again, it is disappointing that it is like it is. Short races, ghosting, tv pod. But that's the offering, a simcade. I don't think it's reasonable to treat it like anything but a simcade, and expect players - even esport ones - to use like a sim.
That's on EA, not the players. And also on us for not adjusting expectations.
