Same to be honest. I did enjoy 2021 and 2022, and to am extent 2023 but little things (you know the ones I mean!) that I've disliked about the games has worn my patience out with playing any of them until they fix it.
I also went back to 2020 for a bit as I remembered I actually bought it in steam when it was £5 as well and since I upgraded my computer I thought I'd try some mods in it. It still plays just as well as 2023 and although the issue I hate the most is still present, it's a lot less noticeable in 2020 as the cars were better balanced (except Ferrari but we'll gloss over that).
Had quite a bit of fun having a proper Lotus, Honda and Brawn livery for My Team and having some fun using an Alonso and Hulkenberg mod to play as them in career mode along with their proper helmets. Although it doesn't affect the gameplay, it just feels better having that option available which is why I've been saying I'd love to see this options properly added rather than needing a mod.
As you say as well, the gameplay feels great still although I'm still trying to get the FFB to match the feeling it had in 21/22 and 23 as it feels too loose in 2020 despite the same settings. Might just continue with this one for now and if it somehow gets to a point where 23 actually changes things we've all been asking for then I'll switch back.
In the meantime it's 2020 until then and not buying any more again until they listen to us.
Maybe the fact that their sales have been poor this year they might realise that maybe it's actually a good idea to listen to your existing customers rather than ignoring our requests and adding nonsense we don't want.

f1 2020 are so terrible game, no AI mistakes, no fight to positions, no underbody damage, bad damage and wear on tyres, terrible physics and arcade grip, please don´t remember this *
