What do you expect to see? Normal gameplay
We have been playing the 2-player career extensively. I am the host player with a stable 400mbit internet connection, while my friend is playing over a 4G connection, which is slightly slower and less stable. I'm noting this since it might be related to some of the issues, though we have no way to verify.
In our 16 races, including full practice and qualifying sessions for all, we've repeatedly faced some major issues that are making it very difficult to have a reliable gaming experience. I've tried to take notes and am listing the issues below.
Connection Drops for Client Player (mostly between Qualifying sessions)
Roughly 3 times out of 4 when we end one qualifying session and move to the next, the client player is immediately dropped when the host player enters the loading screen for the next session. The error given is that the player failed to join the session within a time limit, though we have no indication of what this time limit is and there is no observable delay or wait. If the host player is participating in the next qualifying session, the dropped player may usually rejoin and take control of their car. However, if the host player did not meet the requirements of the next qualifying session, the game instantly skips to the results of the qualifying session, giving the dropped player no chance to rejoin at all.
Loss of Control (AI driving instead)
In 2 different races on the latest current patch version we've had an issue where the client player enters the race session, but is not able to control their vehicle. After editing their pit strategy and hitting advance, they are in their normal driving view, but are not shown the lights coming on or going off, and the AI is driving for them. The only way to resolve this is to restart the game and rejoin as in the qualifying issue above. It may take several rejoins before control is granted to the player.
Loss of Force Feedback
This seems to be a widely known issue with Thrustmaster wheels and I've seen it listed as being studied. I've no really new details to provide here, save for the fact that we both have the same model of steering wheel, but only the client player seems to be having issues as of late. I had this same issue in our first few races, but haven't had it happen in a long time now.
Loss of Sound
Happened only twice so far, but the client player has reported losing all sound in the game mid-race. Again, only restarting the game seems to resolve the issue. Rare and random, so very difficult to document further.
Loss of on-screen information after pit stop
Last race we played in Suzuka had my friend pitting during a safety car. After exiting the pits they were no longer displayed any on-screen notifications for things like yellow flags, the safety car exiting the track or the pit speed limit indicator during later pit stops.
