NERFING assists
Please can assists be looked at… Like nuked into oblivion, I understand that assists are their to help all play, but when racing multiplayer should a person on full assists be quicker than a person ...

I feel you're doing those good enough to get into the top 20% of a TT leaderboard a massive disservice by describing them as merely 'average' there, given that by definition they've done better than 80% of drivers!
For context I'm sadly yet to trouble the top 20% of any TT leaderboard myself ☹️.

The intention was to classify the multitude of online players that are above the casual "I'll play My Team and chill", make up the ranks of the yearly "please nerf TC" threads, but are so inconsistent that only rarely get a good, top whatever laptime. Hence the "feeling energized" part.
The gist of it is that it is only natural for players lapping 1.30.000 here and 1.33.600 there to benefit from assists. They're not consistent, i.e. they often overshoot their inputs. Assist will drag those slow lap times down, making them overall faster.
Now good players consistently delivering laps within less than 1s of each other? Those don't benefit from assists as much, and they won't be pestered by players that do because theoretically their pace is much faster.
If assists do still hold you back, just like Jarno demonstrates on his videos (TC alone adding 0.7s to his times), if you're consistent you will leave assisted players behind on 25% and longer races.
