I noticed that too, mate and I also agree with you, but still the math is wrong and the numbers are not always adding up (career or F1 World), as @KF2ZedHunter said..
Something similar also occurs from time to time with the Resource Points in career mode and the math after all 3 FP sessions is sometimes wrong.
Another issue with Resource Points happened to me a few times already and that's when you shoud receive the Weekly Resources, which is some money + Resource Points each MyTeam week and the game simply did NOT give me the Resource Points - I got the money, but not the RP - and I have that in video:
As you can see, I had Weekly Resources scheduled for October 16th and then again for October 23rd.
I stop the clock on the 16th - and then again on the 23rd.
On the 16th, I get both the money and the RP (320) just fine - you can see that by my total RP before and after each time I stop the clock:

But on the 23rd, I get only the money and for whatever crazy reason, the game just did NOT give me the RP (which at that point, I was really counting on, so I could develop another important Chassis car part):

It clearly shows the 320 RP being 'given' on the 23rd, but they just don't add up to my previous amount, which remains the same and then I notice that and complain about it at the end of the clip.
Anyway..
Not the first (and probably not the last) time that happens and can be a big problem to the team, when you're counting on every little RP to develop your car and if you don't have enough, you need to wait another whole in-game week to do it and then the other teams will develop their cars more than you, bla bla bla.. Anyway.. just super annoying and it affects (negatively) your progression in a big way..

I tend to believe that was not intended..
I mean.. any player can count and it's not hard to notice when the numbers don't add up, so I don't think they did it that way on purpose.
Still it's just super annoying (and wrong/unfair, etc) that you don't get the RP you were supposed to and was counting on - the AIs keep developing their cars just fine, meaning they are getting their RPs, but the player sometimes isn't.. I mean.. come on, game!!..
I love playing against the AIs, but it's amazing how the game 'cheats' to give them advantages in lots of different ways..
There's this RP issue and the fact that it seems the AIs ALWAYS have more RPs than the player and every time we develop our car, they develop theirs too (so it's pretty hard to 'out-develop' them, maybe except when the Regulations change in some seasons and you're able to save some RPs and car parts, so you don't lose them, while the AIs do and then you finally out-develop them)..
But there's also all of that 'adaptive driving' BS, where the game gives the AIs the ability to 'break the laws of physics' whenever is convenient to them and so they magically get super acceleration, super top speed, super breaking, super grip, super laps, etc and they do things that are literally impossible for the human driver to do (without going off the track or crashing) - I mean.. I don't mind the challenge and I like to race against AIs that are just as quick as I am, but it sucks when you put a LOT of efforts (and skill) do try a hard move to pass them and they simply cheat to stay ahead of you, no matter what you do, or how well or fast you can drive.. - if I feel the AIs are too easy to beat, I can simply increase their level, but I don't like them 'adapting' on demand, literally ignoring the game's laws of physics and doing things that are impossible for the player to do just to stay ahead of us..
Anyway, sorry for kinda going off topic here, but once again it just sucks to feel you get 'cheated' all of the time by the game..
They steal XPs from you.. RPs.. the AI 'bend' the laws of physics.. - the game is great, but so is the amount of BS in it..- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@SexyBrigadeiro I’ve just started yet another My team career. Did 50% Jeddah. The front runners were Max, Lewis, Sainz and Lando. After pit stops they are pretty well spread out with clear track and air to the end of the race.
So at end of race I looked at race director. Their laps times were as you would expect super consistent. No more than 3 tenths difference over ten laps. Max did ten laps all within 2 tenths. Then last 2 laps they all went about half second faster than previous 10 laps. And last lap were all over a second faster than those 10 laps. Max, Lewis and Lando were 1.4-1.5 seconds faster. Using the same worn tyres as me and I was having to tip toe through the last lap. Got done by 3 cars on back straight off last lap😔.- SexyBrigadeiro2 years agoSeasoned Ace

This is another unrealistic example of the BS the AIs can do - and it's been like that in these game for ages..
And the devs never bothered to fix it somehow and make it more realistic, either by increasing the AIs tyre wear and making their lap times SLOWER as their tyres wear out (and NOT allowing them to magically get half or either a full sec faster in their final laps of each stint), or by allowing the players to also get 'super laps' at the end of our stints (although this would be unrealistic too - it's actually just natural and obvious that the lap times get slower as the tyres get worn)..
But anyway.. some things just never change - sadly..
