Opmeer Icon Rating - his first quali session for me...

So for those who are afraid to sign Jarno Opmeer for their team because of his 26 overall rating (based off Codies accidentally giving him 26 pace compared to 60+ for the other eSports Icons), just to let you know he just qualified 15th in my terrible newcomer team at Bahrain, season 1 (I qualified last, lol). He outqualified Albon by 0.2 secs in the One-Shot session.

Could perhaps be inadvertent proof that the the ratings on the MyTeam cards are cosmetic. He seems to be coded correctly, but seemingly the ratings don't mean a single thing, or at least don't seem to correlate with how the drivers are coded.

So don't be afraid to give him a go, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Edit: 5 laps into the 25% race and he's still 15th, staying ahead of Albon and Magnussen. He's not dropping back at all. He's quick.

Edit 2: He finished 14th, his fastest lap was 3 tenths faster than mine. 85% AI difficulty, btw.

Update: He's now just qualified 10th at Jeddah. This is with +7 pace I gave him after an Event popup.

  • @s00zster In fairness as much as I do like Jarno. He’s not an actual F1 racing driver so I’d say compared to F1 drivers I would think his rating in the game is accurate 😂 Yes I know he raced in Formula 4 or similar and hadt to give it up due to lack off funds rather than lack off skill. But even so😇

But I’m just sore as the best driver at Mercedes. In Jakey ‘in the bin’ Benham wasn’t added. Future E-Sports champion in my all knowing opinion 👍

As for the driver ratings I think you’re probably right: Due to my experiences. I remember IRL Bottas best race was at Sochi. Turned out every race I did at Sochi and I did hundreds in F1 22. He also dominated all. Then a few years back Lando was awesome in Austria. In F1 22 Lando also dominated at the race. Then I noticed a pattern where different drivers would be op on certain tracks. Especially at their home races. Silverstone being my home race was always a challenge with majority of teams being British based.

Lastly in this years game I’ve started about half a dozen my team careers as a mid team. I’ve signed different starting drivers Mansell 90 Button 85ish. The two drivers from braking point and what’s his face whos standing in for Danny Ric. Dispute starting the season as 6th ranked team and ending it 3rd ranked team. For majority of the races every driver has qualified below 15th place. Not only have they not done anything to what already existed in career modes. Anything they’ve add has just been thrown in without care or thought. I hate being this angry about it as I want to be a F1 game fanOAP. But this year I’ve spent more time testing issues or trying to find workarounds for them.

Sorry not in the best off moods and slightly hammered

@ScarDuck14 Realistically, yeah, he should be at the back of the grid, but after seeing a bunch of people say yesterday "I'm not signing him until this is fixed", I thought I'd report back on the supposed effect the 26 pace would have. Turns out none at all, it's all cosmetic. I'm also not too sure about the +7 from the simulator event, because at both Bahrain and Jeddah, he was 0.3 ahead of me in laptimes. And I'm not sure I ever really witnessed those boosts having any effect on my signed driver since 2020 to be honest.

Either way, for the first time in ages, I'm actually enjoying myself with this game purely because having Jarno as my teammate is, weirdly, something I've always wanted, especially after finding out he used to race in Formula Renault.

Only gripe I have is David Croft calls him "the owner driver" (even though I'M the owner driver) on the grid rundown, and then then BOOM, you're back to remembering how lazy they've been on the details and you come crashing back down to earth...

@s00zster See that’s something Codies could have easily done for Jarno. In his my team career this year he’s called himself Cook, as he likes to Cook😂. And last year I think it was Black mamba. Either one off those names would have done and I’m sure Jarno would have be ok with it
