On a tiny brighter not. The YouTube video off LL Old J and daft.I.am cringy driver announcing at Miami has a few thousand likes compared to over 30k dislikes… However undeterred apparently the cringe fest will become a thing 😤

- TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Blackbird90 It depends on where your sources are getting their info from 🤣
Really, some says sites are saying rain, others say no rain. Guess we'll find out Friday morning with the proper forecast - TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@mariohomohJust for you https://youtu.be/lFwGa-gKdr4 Podcast with guru Newey. I haven't watched it, will find the audio version but he mentions how the Ferrari design is broadly similar to the RB. I don't know the context but there should be some tidbits. I also picked up book in ebook version, will read that over holiday.
- mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)@TotosHeadphones Oh I listened to the podcast in my podcast app! It was a good one.
Will still look up the part where he shows his battered 10yo sketchbook 💞 - TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace@mariohomoh Ha, you're already ahead of me! After having the had the pleasure of meeting him and being in his presence for an hour, I've always got time for him even though I really am not fussed about listening to c*cky Red Bull content (the previous Horner podcast)

In other news GP2 engine manufacturer returns to F1 in 2026, supplying the team that is currently carrying this season;

- Meza9943 years agoSeasoned Ace@TotosHeadphones Might be a good choice considering Honda is doing well with their MGU-K.. But as always with new regulations its a gamble but this time Honga actually has some knowledge not like 2015 haha
But i think Alonso wont be there to see it - TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Meza994 I for one don't think it's a bad move. Although they have been out of for 18 months or so they set very good groundwork for RB Power trains division and with the new engines meant to have less components, you'd expect them to not be too far behind. The engine performance between manufacturer seems to be negligible in power this season. But I don't know the numbers.
Interesting that you think Alonso won't be there. Honda may want a Japanese driver in the seat so we could see Tsunoda (I approve) but will be interesting to see the seats available when the new regulations come around.
In other news, the W14B sidepods have been spotted in the wild. A bit more conventional with a bit more width for the intake and an undercut. Zero pods no more - mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)
@TotosHeadphones indeed:
Don't leave us hanging, though! How did you came to spend a whole hour with Newey?
- TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@mariohomohI'm lucky enough to occasionally do some interesting things in my job. On this occasion I had an opportunity to go to the factory in Milton Keynes and have Newey, Pierre Wache and Monaghan talk through the RB18 (in its mule guise). You can find the video online, I'm not sure if there's a video longer than 2 mins as I can't even remember who the final product was for, the joys of freelance life. I actually missed out because the previous day, my colleagues were doing some stuff with Verstappen and Checo. It was great through as I got to see all the various versions of the RedBull/Toro Rosso.
Anyway....
It appears that there's no undercut 🤔 Maybe they've split the intake to have a channel/tunnel that emerges just above the exposed top floor that accelerates the air to create the pressure needed for the floor downforce?

@TotosHeadphonesNo no no no no
No no no no no no no
You post that video and you post it good, mate! You can't be all half gossiping it like this! It does not surprise me in the slightest you British were in so many conflicts through history with that attitude! 😂
On a slightly different note, this week's Beyond The Grid with Sam Michael is well worth a listen.Edit: and there's the anti-dive talking point too:
- TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@mariohomohScrap that, I was expecting more Red Bull-esque sipepods with a very aggressive undercut but it looks like they aren't going for that. Good find on the anti-dive geometry. Are Ferrari introducing their new front suspension this weekend too?
Haha, the video is easy to find, no secrets. https://motorsport.tv/f1-updates/video/oracle-red-bull-racing-engineers-break-down-the-rb18/138154 I can't find the full edit which is annoying me as the chat was far longer and Wache and Newey really went into depth
- TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@mariohomohIt appears that Newey is a man of taste; he went to his first interview on a Ducati 900SS and having owned it's baby sister as my first big bike, the 750SS, he owned a beauty of Italian machinery at it's finest... when it wasn't fouling the spark plugs that is...
Ahh, the Mercedes concept has nearly enough converged to the rest of the field...

Did anyone else get themselves mentally prepared for practice today to then be hit in the face with it being tomorrow instead? Could of sworn monaco practice 1 & 2 was on Thursday
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@Cpayne32 Just you 🙄😆
- Cpayne323 years agoHero+@ScarDuck14 Well no victoria sponge cake for you for not sharing my misfortune… although my luck recently has been pants. Did a 3 lap race on le mans in GT7 using GR3 cars, started last, had a 8 second lead on the final lap and binned it into a gravel trap 3 corners from the end and then rage quit
- TotosHeadphones3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Cpayne32 Zandvoort isn't it that has the practice on Thursday?
- Cpayne323 years agoHero+@TotosHeadphones Honestly i do know anymore. Im just going to say im going crazy
- Nuvolarix3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Cpayne32 same here 🥳 ... Monaco memories from the past...
- @Cpayne32 I don't like nor don't I look forward to Monaco, so when it was changed to Friday as any other GP I immediately accept it as a usual thing.
- Cpayne323 years agoHero+@Blackbird90 I think most people are like that. Compared to other street circuits it offers limited overtaking and is basically who gets the luck with tyres
