Re: (PC) No vibration/rumble with Dualsense controller

Possible solution found, at least it got mine working consistently now.

I had previously disabled the audio device "Wireless Controller" (the audio output/input on the Dualsense controller) and enabled it.

For whatever reason this seem to allow the vibration/rumble/haptics to work in F1 23, and is definitely a game issue as the vibration motors works in every other game while the audio output disabled on the controller..

For you others with this issue in the thread, please check whether the audio device is enabled or disabled and see if enabling (if disabled) also enables the vibration.

Note, the audio device does NOT need to be set as the default nor default communications device, it just need to not be disabled.

  • This is a great discovery for those using playstation controllers. However Xbox Controllers do not appear as audio devices on PC.

Here's the issue since f1 2022. The f1 22 was actually fine on launch but got broken with the Portimaio patch. And EA brushed it off saying it was my OLD controller that's not supported anymore, saying big f** you to all the controller players. It's super important EA looks at what happened with the Portimao patch (v1.07) so that they can fix the CORE issue for all controller players, and not apply some band-aid fix.

@EA_rephiiPlease forward these findings to the development team so that they can use the information to create a fix.

The status of the audio device should not be a requirement for the vibration to work as F1 23 is the only title that I have seen behaving like this.

Every other game on PC that is played with the Dualsense are able to output haptics/vibration when the audio device on the controller is disabled.

@StefanKrunic97 Absolutely, but there's a separate bug report for the Xbox controller and I would suggest that you post in that regarding the Xbox controller issues as this is specifically for the Dualsense (and possibly Dualshock 4) controller on the PC.

@StefanKrunic97 I would argue the opposite as this seemed to be resolved by enabling the audio device on the controller if disabled. The root cause would thus be completely different, which makes it a different issue. You'll have better odds to get your issue resolved if you use the correct topic.
  • @dotazured We could argue until forever and Codemasters/EA still won't solve the issue.
Fact 1: All force feedback issues on ALL controllers started with Patch 1.07 in F1 22. Just because you found a band-aid fix doesn't mean they shouldn't fix the actual core issue.
Fact 2: We stand a better chance with a LARGE SINGLE thread with tons of people chipping in and verifying the issue rather than multiple threads with less people.

@StefanKrunic97 And again, this is a bug report for the Dualsense and not the Xbox Series controllers, this is made clear in the title. You need to post in the appropriate thread if you want your issue resolved.

Further more, the controllers aren't using the same drivers (PS controllers using directinput, and Xbox controllers xinput).
So while the symptoms might be similar, doesn't mean that the root cause and issue would need to be the slightest related.

By continuing to posting in this specific thread about your Xbox controller is doing yourself and others that have issues with the Xbox controller a disservice. Especially as this bug report is technically resolved now.
