1. The base of the upgrade system is fine, although I would prefer the old tech tree visual better, they just need to work on the balancing. The issues are three-fold, teams can generally max out their cars in 2-3 seasons of a mode that supposed to last 10. The resets don't "hit hard enough which really I guess feeds back into the first issue. Then there's the hole driver performance boost thing (I forget what it's called in game) that basically gives everyone a +10 across the board so 2/3 of the grid ends up being like 95+ in all stats. If they re-balance the first two and get rid of the third it will be fine.
2. I don't know if licensing has anything to do with it or not but that's not the real reason either way... weather is. The game is pre-programmed with an expected rain ratio based on the track's location for the time of year the race is run. Also, there's the heat issue. You can't just drop one of the Middle Eastern races down into the calendar in July, Engines and tires would be exploding left and right.
3. I'm going to agree with this one. I've never liked Sprints in real life, and I dislike them in game even more.
4. We've been through this before, this is a licensing issue and they do have to change it whether you like it or not. As to why they deleted him entirely instead of just putting him in the driver pool I can't explain, but in this specific case I think it's fairly safe to say he's not getting a second shot.
5. People say a lot of things, doesn't mean any of them will come true. Personally, I would bet on Verstappen staying F1 longer than Hamilton, and Hamilton not getting another championship. Also, they've never shown any interest hard coding things into the game before, like we already know Hamilton is going to Ferrari next year, doubt that will be hard coded to happen in career mode. so why would they do this when it's pure speculation.
6. Personally, I would advise them just to get rid of F1 world, but base on the pre-order "poster" we got they seem to be doubling down on it so 😞\
7. Fine by me, but I don't know if they've been gone long enough to be considered "Icons".
8. I know I'm probably in the minority on this, but I'd rather they just get rid of mechanical failures entirely for both player and AI. The cars are reliable now, this isn't the 70's - 90's anymore where 1/3 of the field was lost to mechanical failure. Most DNF's now adays come from the driver error putting into the wall, and to your point, I don't have enough confidence in CM/ EA's coding the have a fair and balanced system regarding failures, so I'd rather just be able to disable it.
9. Interviews are novel at first, but there's only so many lines you can have recorded, and once you start seeing repeats you start figuring out the "correct" response and the whole thing just becomes a waste of time, there are better things to put resources into IMO.
- LuckyNico921 year agoSeasoned Ace@TheRagebeard There's a viable reason why races like say Qatar and Abu Dhabi are night races. Temperature.
If those races were day races - and they used to be until 2013, where regulations were highly different - then the tires would last seven laps, just like F2 because the track is so hot that the tires will basically melt.
That's why I understand your argument with the weather regarding the calendar order, but it's a feature that especially I would adore, because I want to have a full season with Melbourne as Round 1 and Las Vegas as the season finale, anything in-between is just personal preference, but I would scrap Bahrain and put Qatar into Round 2, since I prefer it over Bahrain.- TheRagebeard1 year agoHero+
@LuckyNico92 Qatar was never a day race and only joined the calendar in 2021 and 2023, not sure what you intended to say there but I think you've gotten Bahrain, Saudi, Qatar, and Abu all squirreled up.
Also, and I have no idea if the AI is actually this intelligent or not, but mixing up the races could mess with the AI upgrade philosophy. Ex. if the AI is expecting Monaco to be round 8 it may attempt to have most of its downforce upgrades come through around round 7-8. If you then deicide to slot Monza in at round 8, the AI may not compensate and go for engine upgrades instead, and end up with a downforce heavy car at the least downforce needy track.
That said, I myself would not give a lot of credibility to my previous train of thought because I haven't seen enough from the game over the years to show me that it thinks things through that deeply, more than likely upgrades get decided by RNG so...
Cheers lol
- LuckyNico921 year agoSeasoned Ace@TheRagebeard I don't think so. The AI upgrades at complete random. One day they upgrade chassis, then aero, then powertrain, then maybe another aero upgrade before going for a durability upgrade...
I don't think it matters what AI upgrade comes when.
