From my point of view it is more realistic because we can now feel when the car will spin, and the traction is more "controllable" with an upshift.
The IA qualification lap times an difficulty are more realistic too, (No more gap between race and qualification ) For example qualified 8 finished 7 on Bahrain. On the 22 version if you are qualified 8 you can easily finish 1st. The IA was too strong in qualification , not this year and this s very enjoyable.
The video below that @ScarDuck14 posted in another thread includes some comments on how the game has been made more realistic. Over the last 2-3 years it's become increasingly clear that whenever anyone with real experience driving F1 cars tries the recent games the standout difference they've highlighted was traction being more difficult in the game so it's really good to see this has been addressed.
As has been pointed out though, whilst traction is improved there is still a limit so this doesn't inherently make the game 'easy'. My own (lack of) skill still means I'm far too capable of ending up with my car pointing in the wrong direction anyway!
